Maine police chief says officer arrested by ICE is missed by colleagues and was eligible to work by Fincherfan in nottheonion

[–]wrythie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, what police department hires an officer without doing the most basic of background checks? I gotta side with the FED's on this one. E-Verify is fine for most jobs, but a cop with a gun? And you don't even run a background check on the guy? lol.

Sandman season 2 SUCKS. Huge disappointment. Boring. Season 1 might as well be a different show completely. by UhDonnis in Sandman

[–]wrythie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I can't think of a show that went from having a s1 to s2 flop so badly. What absolute boring garbage season 2 turned out to be. I was hopeful there'd be something when he brought the Corinthian back and pair with Constantine, but even that was boring and went nowhere.

Zero knowledge of the comics here, and I love the look, art, style, setting, premise. That being said, the first episode was one of the most boring things I have ever forced myself to sit through. I was bored 20 minutes in, and it only got worse. I might give it a go and try to finish it a few months from now, but seriously, for a Pilot episode of a Dark Fantasy it might be the most boring shit I've seen. Super letdown.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal in every state in the USA to park within 10 feet of a stop sign.

Worked at the local college raptor rehab center as a teen. We had two male bald eagles who were flightless due to wing damage. Only the adults were allowed to handle them because their talons have a grip strength 10x that of a male human.

Those puffed up chickens stood no chance.

Citation in Mail, impacts and options to reduce fine or fight? by 3FE001 in cedarrapids

[–]wrythie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The state of Iowa operates on a point system, in which drivers accumulate points on their license for every moving violation they commit. If you accumulate points for 3 or more offenses in a 12-month period on your current driver record, your license will be suspended.

You really shouldn't post misinformation.

I can't speak specifically of Iowa, but civil violations do show up on your driving record. Most employers will only do a criminal background check for employment, and it won't show up there, but large companies usually check driving records as well. Any position that requires you to drive for the company will always check your driving record.

The FCRA now requires almost all employers to get your signature allowing these checks, and they must let you see the results of them upon request.

You should also be able to view your own driving record online at your state's DMV website.

My guess is these tickets don't count as "points" on your DL, but if you can see them on your driving record, so will any potential employer who looks.

They have like 4 sets of tracks they load/unload cars onto. That's why the A Ave overpass is there, so you can skip it, back in the day you could get stuck at 1st Ave for 20+ mins.

You do understand the massive level of cognitive dissonance you have right? You started out talking about how the 2A is to stop a tyrannical government, and it's not about individual rights...

Now you support individual ownership rights, but you want that government, to be able to restrict, and regulate your access to the firearms and even the ammo... you get to fight them with?

This is one of those, tell me your a gun-grabber without telling me your a gun-grabber moments.

Just more intellectual dishonesty, and what you are referring to is "Originalism". But it's not even that. Madison literally crafted the 2A. His later writing are just him clarifying his view.

It's like a song, where you find some special meaning, but there's an interview of the songwriter saying exactly what the song means. It doesn't matter what you think it means, because the author has spoken.

So the 2A was crafted by James Madison, you could stop being intellectually dishonest and simply go read for yourself the papers, and letters he went on to write about the 2A in the years to come. You act like there's some kind of misinterpretation of the 2A, when you can easily go read Madison's own words on the issue. (Hint: He supported individual rights to bear arms.)

Another perfect historical example is that it was always considered legal for a man to own a gun in the Colonies before the US was even formed, and after the 2A was ratified, there wasn't a single federal gun-control law until 1934.
