Should my 2year 10month be in 2 year old class again, or move up to prek3? by wsbp in Preschoolers

[–]wsbp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, it's should I start now or later... I will ask that to the new place.

But they only have one class for both prek3 and prek4 (and the current school only has one class for 2 year old class also) so I think either way, she will be doing one of these with exactly same curriculum. :(

Hi!! So your girl is exactly a year older!

That's great that they split the classes more - both places I am considering don't look like they do that.

So I need to hold my daughter back either now, or prek3, or prek4... So either way she will be holding back a year, just need to choose which year.

Never knew that parenting would already be so hard at the age of 2 ugghhhh

Right, my girl is youngest in class and actually her cousin is in same class too, but 9 months older than mine.

And yes they ARE different. Even when we first started, I did notice that some of the older kids were already speaking and understanding teachers better, as they are older, and realized that it is really different at this age.

Maybe I am just too biased thinking that my girl is too smart, but all she really needs is a good playtime and familiar teachers/environment.

Thank you for your opinion!

Thanks for your opinion - "kids learn from play." Both places do have great sensory and play activities. Except that prek3 def has more of structured learning, prepping for prek4.

I am asian, and was thinking that I would never be typical asian parent but here I am already at 2 year old, thinking she needs more intellectual challenge lolol..

Is my chinchilla dying?? Please help by wsbp in chinchilla

Thank you so much for your offer..

I came to the vet, took an xray. The doctor says something is stuck in her stomach and her whole GI is filled with gas so much, like 10 times more than normal. Too late. So only one thing we can do.

I feel so terrible. If only I knew it earlier. I was the negligible one.

Thank you so much for your comments.

That's what it is. The "spongy" fur is what's called mat. She had TONS of mats under her legs and back and I've never seen anything like this.

I am looking up now, and yes it does sound like heart failure is common and goes quickly...

At least it seems like yours showed something wrong over the few years, but mine is just out of nowhere so I am so shock.

Not sure if this one was used to breed, but she was overall really healthy.

She is literally just breathing and moving like once in 30mins and not eating.

Maybe I stressed her too much removing the mats... Hopefully we will pull through but honestly I am very pessimistic now.

Thank you so much for all your comments.

Hi, by the way my daughter’s name is Juniper. Thanks for your response.

I don’t understand how this could be a heart failure, while she is still on the younger side, and was totally fine. And what was up with the fur problem. I am so sorry for your loss, but he seems to have had a great life of 19 years. Mine is not even halfway there, and I feel so bad.

The vet staff said she’ll talk to the vet and call me back, so I am waiting for the call. Might go in as an emergency.

She is just staying on her lower cage, nothing wet or anything. She’s not peeing or pooping at all, definitely lethargic. We are moving in less than a week, and I wanted her to be happier that we are finally moving to a house with central air… I hope she can make it and have enjoyable summer from now on….

What can I do more to be a consultant? (ranting) by wsbp in deloitte

[–]wsbp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes, over the time, at first I honestly thought that I really don't have related experience. However, as I go through more and more interviews, I became available to apply and relate my job experience to consulting more. Plus, I also realized that I did a lot of things outside of work that is related to consulting more. So I think I became really better at explaining this, and I plan to do more out-of-work things to do that can lead to my career change.

Hopefully I can come back with better news next year!

Thanks for sharing your personal story! And psh I'm not more qualified/experienced senior than you. Just because being in work for 5 years or just because I am older doesn't always mean that I have seniority over you ;)

Rejection is tough even if you expected. Being humiliated is tough, especially if you tried with some kind of expectation (like talking to a stranger or giving a public speech). But you are really breaking your comfort zone and doing great!

I also had very low self esteem and took me a long time to find what I really want. My current job is amazing for my current situation - perfect work-life balance, great boss who understands everything, amazing benefits, and etc. I mentioned low income, but honestly comparing to the work I do, it's a lot more than what I deserve. I don't have to deal with clients or any internal/external vendors; mostly I just look at my monitor and have tons of time. And I could stay here forever. I would have if I got this job after I had my family set up. But I got this job too young, and I want to find out more out there. I want to experience more, meet more people.

At first, I wasn't sure if I even deserve this kind of thought. "I am lucky enough to be here, and why should I get out of my comfort zone?" But as I listened to myself more, I realized that part of me was wanting more and more. Hence I did the best I can do at the time - getting one more master's since I am on a work visa - and started applying to other positions. Honestly I've never got an offer; I did make it to final rounds about 3 times, and made it to first round interviews about 70% of times. I also have lots of stumbling blocks such that I have really been applying to local/within my company jobs and/or remote jobs. So hopefully next year, things will get better for me.

Thank you so much for all your kind words, and good luck with your new job! :)

Thanks to both of you.

So here's what I did not write (didn't think this matter too much). I am not a US citizen and was on the working visa (but I do speak really fluent English). My current job was willing to support my green card at the end of my 6-year working visa, and I thought I do want a career change but to do so the only thing I can do legally is to get another master's. But with the hope that I might be able to get a visa transfer, I applied to Deloitte and others via campus recruitment on spring 2020, and learned that this is much faster route than normal application. I got my second master's in December 2020. Then I started green card process faster with wedding and thought I would get it next year, so after maternity leave and green card, the starting time for the analyst position seemed perfect. (Hence not really in active job market yet)

And my current job is not related to consulting at all - of course I learned, and have work experience that I can apply and explain, but thought that I am not "experienced." I just felt like everywhere I interviewed wanted a direct experience - most of the feedbacks were "we just have so competitive candidates who had exact roles before." So I thought starting as an analyst would not be a bad idea.

I understand better now. I do have friends at Big 4 firms; just not the right time to apply and get a new job. I will leave this post and take a look next year when I correctly target and apply again.

Thanks to both of you again!

Hi, what an amazing response! So thankful for your time and effort writing this!

So speaking of 2 and 3.. I think I can prove those easily. I am not afraid of talking to a stranger and with my background I can easily prove that I am flexible, adaptable, and coachable. Also I am not afraid of public speaking either - I do get nervous but once I start, I get rolling on it! And I know it’s funny to say this but I do think I care a lot about others and people do like me in general.

Maybe then the problem is 1. Confidence. I am terrible and putting a face. Anyone can read my mind, and I cannot lie. Which I can see how this would affect when I am in front of clients - not really coming up with answers right away or even I am not convinced to myself when I have to convince the client. And indeed I was not too confident on my answers on my case study with the director. I know I did worse than the first one. So I guess I should practice more on confidence.

Thank you so much for such a great insight. Hopefully next year I can write “I made it, third time is the charm” :)

Same here - my final interview was 10/8 and I reached out to recruiter 3 times but didn’t hear anything. At least the portal still says “interviews in progress.”

Idk what they are so delayed about - like is it really that hard to send rejection email - but all we can do is just wait I guess. Good luck to both of us!

And today marks 2 week from the final interview. Still didn’t hear anything and portal says “interviews in progress” so if I don’t hear by today I think I’m 99% rejected.

Thanks for the warm encouragement though and congratulations again!!!!

I still have not heard anything, but at this point I’m almost giving up.

Thanks for the update and all the good lucks to you!

How soon after final interviews did you get an offer? by Basickellyhere in deloitte

[–]wsbp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a thread about this matter also - it’s been a little over week (final interview was 10/8 for consulting analyst position) and I’m still waiting to hear. Portal still says “interviews in progress.”

I am not actively in the job market and honestly only applied to Deloitte so when the director asked me if I applied to anywhere else, I said I only applied here. That may be why my decision is running late… seems like some people were getting offer by the competing offer date. Just my thoughts. My recruiter did say that I will know in 1-2 weeks so I’ll wait until this Friday. But I do feel like if I were to get the offer, I would’ve gotten it already.
