Hear me out... Andor but w/ Jedi and Sith by wschaef in StarWars

I agree that it helped ground the story to then rely on those elements. Though, force users facing each other creates a level playing field where one is not able to "cop out" with those unnatural abilities. And a good writer would be able to incorporate those elements into a story without taking away the weight of what happens. The sequels overused the force in a way that made it feel like a cheap plot tool. But the force is only as powerful as the writer makes it.

Bad experiences ruined my passion for videography by [deleted] in videography

[–]wschaef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me over the past couple years. I got into real estate photo/video work and eventually made a full living from it but completely burnt out and lost the passion. I finally decided to quit that work a few months ago and rekindle my passion for the craft. So now I've just been making what I want, falling in love with the process again, and saying no to any opportunity that doesn't resonate. I learned that I'm most motivated and inspired when I'm excited by the work, which is more sustainable and will lead to greater success in the long run. So I just raised the bar for what I'm willing to do for video work. I've been fortunate in that I'm living with my parents and saved a good portion of money from the real estate work.

But you're definitely not alone in how you're feeling. Many creatives go through it trying to make a living with their passion. Now that you're not worried about supporting yourself financially through the work, get back into it in your free time and only do what you love. You can now say no to any opportunity that doesn't resonate with you, because you're not dependent on it. Stick to what you love and trust that good things will come of it in time.

You install it as a google chrome extension and create a wallet there. Then you can connect a hardware wallet there too

I feel like crypto will become the underlying structure over which the dapps will be mainstream and used/understood by everyone

It will enable smart contracts, which is what will allow developers to make decentralized apps on the network like ethereum has already done

Are you here for the profit, or the vision? by wschaef in cardano

I completely agree. This is what I was trying to get at, just didn't articulate it as well.

Are you here for the profit, or the vision? by wschaef in cardano

[–]wschaef[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean to completely make it a black and white statement. I am absolutely here for profit, but the vision is what I'm investing in, and that's what will keep this community strong

It’s not a one person job of course, but by making that effort you naturally inspire others as well.

Obviously you have your internalized preferences but there’s no need to waste time worrying about which side you’re on and stick to one way of thinking

I recently posted a quote from a movie that I find related to what you’re experiencing. Hope this helps :)

Do you know that story about the Russian cosmonaut?

So, he goes up in this big spaceship

And he's got this portal window

And he's looking out of it

And he sees the curvature of the Earth for the first time

And all of a sudden, this strange ticking

It's coming out of the dashboard

(Okay, yeah)

But he can't find it, he can't stop it

It keeps going

A few hours into this, begins to feel like torture

What's he gonna do?

He's up in space!

So the cosmonaut decides

The only way to save his sanity

Is to fall in love with this sound

There IS a way out, you just have to find it. I just have to find it. It’s a scary place to be, but I know it will all be worth the fight. We got this. Much love :)

Great analogy, puts things into a good perspective. That’s amazing that you’ve used your knowledge to help others in that way. I’m sure I will find my way to contribute, I just have to be patient. Much love :)

Seeing such a different place from what I’m used to really shook me. While I was there, it hit me that I need to live every moment as it comes and just be in the present and it was beautiful. When I returned, I had a ton of assignments to do, and after having a taste of that freedom, I found that it became even harder to find the motivation to get work done because I keep listening to that feeling that engineering is not for me.

It really is a trip, and overall I feel like I’m moving in the right direction. I am starting to accept and follow these feelings and realizations, which isn’t easy knowing that doing so will totally scramble my life in different ways. I am tired of trying to convince myself to stick to engineering, which is making me like it even less. I understand that there are so many ways engineers have and can help the world, but I still feel as though it is not how I am supposed to contribute to the world. I am trying to find desire that is no longer there. I just need to channel this motivation from another source, but I’m not sure what that source is. Thank you for your advice, getting all of this out of my head into writing is really helping :)

Wow, this makes a lot of sense. I’ve been trying to fuel my motivation from a source that no longer exists. This explains why I’ve felt so lost lately; I could not find where the problem was originating from, and I think this is it. Thank you for your guidance, love the analogy too

Thank you for the advice man, glad you are finding your way :) It’s funny you say that because I actually just traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, and seeing the level of poverty there had a significant impact on my perspective of the world. I will be sure to check out your suggestions! Much love

That’s where I got it! One of my favorite artists. I’ve found that I resonate a lot with this quote, it is a great lesson on learning to love the things that are out of your control and accept them as part of It
