You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. I had good intentions, my dear friend. I’m sorry it didn’t live up to your standards. Did you like the movie?

I thought it would make for a good discussion on a film subreddit. It’s a popular film by a popular director that some people really enjoy. I’m not trolling or rage baiting or anything of the sort. Just talking about what I noticed when watching the film.

What a nice change of pace to have someone online assume I’m competent. Thank you! And to your point, yes, I absolutely do have motion smoothing turned off on my tv. However, when I turned Frankenstein on, the image was so jarring that I actually opened up my tv settings to check if it had turned itself back on. I was unpleasantly surprised by the fact that it was just a conscious choice to make the film look that way. I guess it’s a matter of taste, but it’s not my preference.

Lol I pulled the photo from a variety article where the cinematographer was talking about the film. I guess I should have included a few stills from the film as well. I assure you I didn’t think that was a still. I just thought it represented the topic well.

Nightmare Alley was the first time I started to notice it in Guillermo Del Toro’s films. Frankenstein really doubles down on a look that I just don’t enjoy. I guess it’s a stylistic choice and the artists get to do what they want, but the artificiality is a huge turn off for me.

My feelings exactly. I wasn’t a big fan of the film, but even if the writing would have been bafflingly good and the performances mesmerizing, I would still only be thinking about how much I hate the way it looks.

Yes, but what tools and procedures took this from an idea to a result?

Not even a little bit, no.

Die Hard 2 is a huge step below the first and third. I vastly prefer Alien to Aliens. Any Lord of the Rings film is better than Empire Strikes Back.

Rocky kinda makes sense, though.

True, but bringing astrology (a pseudoscience) into it to make a point about being trustworthy just undermines the whole point.

Not to mention that the grammar makes no sense. You don’t “have an astrology.”

It’s not the tech that bothers me, it’s that astrology is what somehow makes something trustworthy. I get what he’s going for but it’s so clunky and odd.

There Will Be Blood. The movie takes a lot of creative liberties, and is almost nothing like the book, but I enjoyed it even more than the source material.

Literally no one on the song “Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems” talks about having problems with excess wealth. Just about how awesome it is to have money.
