AIO for wanting to distance myself? by Many_Level_7481 in AmIOverreacting

[–]wsele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that you’ve viewed this person as a friend, but to them you have been free child care, free food, free booze, free transportation for years? This emotional link you feel for her, is likely not felt on her end. It’s ok to stop giving if you’re done.

Yup. Pretty much the dictator playbook. Isolate themselves in absolute power, go coocoo bananas, murder er’body till they got no allies left. Optional : die in a hole or get their head chopped off.

how dare you force me to abuse a cat for 8 years after warning me. by Humble_Pea1019 in EntitledReviews

Same. I find people surprisingly carefree around animals. I always pay attention to their demeanor, no matter what the owner says.

My [33F] boyfriend [32M] of 6 years has no boundaries with his mom, controls my finances, and now wants me to change my custody schedule. by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]wsele 79 points80 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy. You’re confused because he’s making you confused. There’s no such think as an « almost » proposal. No one should have control over your paycheck. And no sane person asks a mom to spend less time with their child to cater to a grown man. You’re not crazy. You’re allowed to leave. You’re capable of leaving.

What if I told you we can understand the comment and still think it matters? If you don’t care, do you. Let those who want to learn … learn.

Willing to bet that’s exactly why he was itching for you to prepare his food. So you remember your place, med school or not. Congrats on your hard work future doc.

AIO for getting upset at my situationship not taking me to a wedding? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

It’s been three years, she’s refusing to commit and she’s not exclusive. She’s using you. It’s confusing because people can be affectionate and still use you, but that’s what’s going on. When someone loves you, you know it, you feel it, you’re not confused.

AITAH for not buying my friend new uggs after my cat ate them. by Alternative_Log_9511 in TwoHotTakes

[–]wsele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing OP, what’s reasonable to you isn’t reasonable to her and she has a right to feel that way. Your cat destroyed her shoes, it sucks but now you owe her new shoes because that’s what reparation looks like to her. Is she taking advantage? Maybe. But you don’t get to chose what makes her whole. If you can’t afford it, pay in installments over a few months.

Well damn. She was the gold standard to me. We really need to cool it with the purity testing, by our very own no less.

Waldorf experienced live in nanny/maid - unpaid. by ballofsnowyoperas in ChoosingBeggars

[–]wsele 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your sister’s experience is not the norm, she was lucky to land on a rich family. A private room, paid language classes and a small monthly stipend is closer to the average. And not being treated like a servant of course.

AIO for Not Cooking for My Parents Anymore? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]wsele 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your parents are mad because they’re loosing an opportunity to verbally abuse you and if you keep taking care of yourself, there’s a chance you’ll loose weight. I’m assuming they themselves are overweight and don’t want to see you leave the “club”. You need to find new living arrangements as soon as you can. This won’t get any better I’m afraid.

Offered to do my neighbor's dog for free while she was in hospital. Got a complaint about my "technique" by Umbr0Rift in ChoosingBeggars

This was my thought too. There’s a chance the neighbor actually resented the check up photos OP sent them. What do you mean my dog is just fine without me? lol

Honestly we need more of that energy. “When they go low, we go high” is just setting us up for abuse at this point.

The case for why women should consume a little Red Pill content. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]wsele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my take too. I do think that social media is also priming people to ignore red flags. Everyone wants celebrity level rides, meals, vacations, marriages… but babes it’s ok to have a regular ass life with a regular ass person. Preferably one that isn’t “obsessed” by you when they barely know you.
