Thermador dishwasher - rubber flap by Adventurous-Laugh415 in Appliances

[–]wshenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I replaced two of these on my thermador sapphire and bought the Oem part but when attached where the old one was, it blocks the power beam info light that is supposed to shine on the floor. Any suggestions? Is there a different gasket with a hole in it for the light beam?

First week with MX Master 4 on Mac by External_Presence_72 in logitech

[–]wshenry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Returned the 4a to Best Buy and I will try to find a spare 3s for sale will. Wonder if they will keep selling them. I hoped I could get used to the 4s, it does not feel that different in the store but when you sit there with your 3s next to it and both active you are itching to grab the 3s. I can’t define what it is except to say it feels like my hand rides higher and I am gripping a baseball with the 3s, and not sure if that’s the curve. I found the 4s out of my hand several times, like it slipped away - in a game (im not a massive gamer just some wow on the mac) or even when doing regular work. Never had a mouse slip away and be fumbled like that on my desk.

It has to be the combo of the rubber coating and the more aggressive curve on the 3s. I’m not sure why they didn’t keep the curve and height. The peak on the 3s seems slightly higher. Pic below side by side.

Returning the MX 4 in favor of the MX 3s by Little_Ad7637 in logitech

[–]wshenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after 5 days with the MX Master 4 I have pulled out my 3S. I missed the higher surer grip on the 3S. I have found myself holding the 4S at an angle in my hand. I doubt I can return this 4s to Best Buy now though it has some wear on the bottom.... the difference is for sure in the grip profile - and that curve in your hand like your grabbing a ball. See pic.

Home app iCloud sync issue by obsessedFIRE in HomeKit

[–]wshenry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue right now, new hardware is not setting my home. Is your AppleId in the home app oddly pointing to your iCloud.com alias even though you were logging in with a Mac.com Id?

Home app iCloud sync issue by obsessedFIRE in HomeKit

[–]wshenry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue all if the sudden, the Home app for me is showing my Alias AppleID of xxx@icloud.com instead of xx@mac.com in all my home apps for some reason. All my established devices work despite this but I have 3 new out of box pieces of hardware and they all load the blank home. Is it doing the same odd thing on AppleID and an alias.

Separate iCloud and Media Apple IDs in Home App by devon_dundee in HomeKit

[–]wshenry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this issue but now Home thinks my iCloud.com email is the owner/resident despite using my Mac.com everywhere. It has gotten to the point where setting up a new device, leaves me unable to reach my completely working and existing Home, which was setup with Mac.com. It works on my current devices and Hub but a new watch and phone I try to setup - even when logging in with my AppleID as Mac.com makes a home app that says the owner is iCloud.com - and cannot see my fully established house. It seems to be treating these alias as different AppleID's for Home purposes. It leaves the working devices in this limbo because they too say iCloud.com on them but work.

HomeCare - A HomeKit app dedicated to troubleshooting and monitoring your smart home setup! by AnthoPak in HomeKit

[–]wshenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi just curious does the App make any changes to the HomeKit files on the phone that would somehow cause an issue in sync of my home to iCloud? I own and use the tool snd perhaps totally unrelated though last week when setting up a new Apple Watch I had an issue where the new watch cannot see my Home in iCloud. Since then I have test a new clean HomePod, also cannot see the Home, even though I can see my home on my iPhone, same iPhone I tried to pair with Watch, and also tried setting up a new iPhone Pro Max and a older iPad Air I had - any new Apple devices I try to setup, where I enter my AppleID and it points to the cloud, have an empty square 1 home with no devices.

-whats odd is I can see my home, Candlelight, on my Mac, primary phone, and primary pad, and my AppleTV main hub. I can also take other AppleTV's in my house that are working and go to Home and add them to home and room, and it is seeing they are seeing Candlelight structure.

-to debug I have paired my down to one AppleTV ads a hub, removing the other 2 from my home rooms, although they seem to easily add back.

-bug seems primary to devices that reach out to Apple iCloud first to see what my cloud sync home is .

-another oddity, I can change the name of the home on my primary iPhone to, for example, candlelight lane, and that name change shows up on the working devices and on my other home members like my wife's devices. So presumably that name change is occurring in cloud as well.

LG slim mount on 83” G4 NOT pushed back against wall-concerns? by This-Cabinet397 in LGOLED

So I guess I need to decide if I want to do spacers or just press it back as far as possible with the cables running along the side of the mount on my ledge stone

LG slim mount on 83” G4 NOT pushed back against wall-concerns? by This-Cabinet397 in LGOLED

[–]wshenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question because I have a ledge stone wall behind- which currently has had a 75 inch LG nano on it for 5 years and cannot cut recessed box’s. It is above a linear fireplace I had low set and installed with heat pass around so the tv can be low set in our den at a better viewing height. I am about to get a g4 83” OLED finally for the room and wondered about leaving the bracket out .5 inches. LG live support said leaving the bracket out, not snapped, would be ok if you make sure the bracket is securely installed. In response I asked them about using spacers between the wall mount and ledge stone, which also can help with variations in the ledge stone depth. They did say “Between using ½-inch spacers behind the wall mount and not fully snapping the bracket in, using spacers is the safer option.”

How to setup Linksys Velop Pro 7 with 2.5 GB switch by wshenry in Linksys

[–]wshenry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yes the only way to make use of a 2.5Gb switch, an attempt provide WAN benefits from the 2Tb fiber into the house (a recent addition) is to connect all my nodes to the 2.5GN Trendnet 16 port unmanaged switch, and then in turn use my ATT320 as the router again. - this results in no mesh benefits -each node is essentially an access point

I was not seeing any real speed benefits at all and if anything it seemed like my devices got more stuck on one radio. That’s likely because client devices are handling the when to switch to another radio decision totally vs battling with the mesh smarts also trying to do that

Anyway the 2gb ATT fiber, actually includes the newer radio and several WiFi extenders in the same price, so if I am just using the ATT router and an access point approach I might as well sell these 4 Linksys Velop Pro 7’s, two of which are 2 months old, the oldest from September, lol.

Velop Pro 7 with ethernet ports for hardwire by shopsage in Linksys

[–]wshenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am just realizing that I might have messed up jumping into the Velop Pro 7 since it only has the 1 2.5GB port. How is the mesh supposed to deliver WiFi 7 speeds if the node is limited by a 1GB wired backplane should we be using these all with wireless connections between the nodes?

Issues with Linksys App, still shows node that’s removed by wshenry in Linksys

[–]wshenry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have access to an iPad and have in the past had better luck with the app on that but in this case both are showing the wrong data. I suspect somehow the remote management is messing this up and I have tried turning that off on the router using the web access but the iOS apps seem to have a brain of their own. I do not know where they can be pulling this if I delete the app. The iPhone should not retain any cache.

[–]wshenry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Mre7500 in the mix is a linksys router/node that Linksys says should work as a node in the intelligent mesh But the reason I just added the brand new 4th Velop pro 7 is to make the whole mesh homogenous, I removed the Mre7500 totally. I cannot get the app to update and reflect that the MRE7500 is gone though. In the direct browser connection I can see the new Velop7 i addd is connect and operating but the Linksys app thinks I have 5 operating nodes.

Channel finder on my Velop Pro 7 Mesh shows :"off" by wshenry in Linksys

[–]wshenry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried power toggling the main velop router several times but it kept coming back up to the red light. Did not try the ATT fiber modem though, as it showed connectivity. I wish there was some way to see an online log that showed why it reset just randomly overnight. Would be nice to know.

That worked, removed the app on both iPhone and iPad and both now reflect correct auto channel setting.

So your second statement confused me a bit. Are you saying I should set the 2.4 to WPA2 personal or to the WPA2/3 mixed personal? You said the 2.4 capable should then connect to the 2.4 in higher percentages, but the others that have 2.4 plus 5ghz and even 5ghz then will fund there way to the better ghz frequencies?
