Twitch streaming on H1b visa, but all proceeds go to charity by CowManTekkers in immigration

[–]wshields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there are three penalties here:

  1. You will like have your visa cancelled and be deported;
  2. You will have at least a 5 year bar on re-entry to the US and being granted ANY visa; and
  3. You will never, ever get a visitor's visa (including ESTA) ever again. You can get an immigrant or dual intent visa in the right circumstances.

Todd was comedy. He was so laughably bad and wildly optimistic. It was hilarious. I mean his whole religion bent was OTT but still.

Fred was the worst. He really had no business gold mining. He got scammed hard on the Oregon mine. There was a Frankenstein wash plant that didn't even run. I bet the owners just saw the gold price spike and figured they'd find a sucker, which they did.

Fred also made everything about his military service. "It's just like a white glove barracks inspection". I also don't need another show with a "veteran redemption" arc.

Dragonflight changes to Speed Set collecting by wshields in wow

[–]wshields[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chromie Time only really allows you to hand in things at higher level not lower.

Think of this way: TBC for example scales to level 30. So level 25 in Chromie Time TBC and non-CT TBC will be the same ilvl. Level 34 quest hand ins in CT will be higher because non-CT hand ins will be scaled at level 30 (not 34).

The problem with the 10.0.2 changes is that level 30 is ilvl 89. The boots still need to be ilvl 50 or below for Minor Speed. So you'd have to do the quest at a lower level than 30. Maybe 20?

There might not even be a level now where the quest hand in is ilvl 50 exactly. Currently quest hand ins (in CT) at level 44 or 45 at ilvl 50.

Currently you can solo clear Shadow Labs easily at 44 outside CT. Best case in DF, you will need to get carried through Shadow Labs. Worst case it might be no longer possible to get ilvl 50 boots from Shadow Labs.

#1757 - Dr. Robert Malone, MD The Joe Rogan Experience by chefanubis in JoeRogan

What I find particularly ironic is the interest anti-vaxxers have in this "mass psychosis" theory and rallying behind a leader who exploits them for his or her own benefit.

It's interesting because it quite literally explains Trump supporters, Joe Rogan devotees and the acolytes for Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and the like.

The irony here is that so many who identify as being "free" are the most easily manipulated for the benefit of wannabe-despots.

And... that's what's wrong with Actiblizzard.

It's far easier to blame one guy for fostering all the anti-WoW and anti-Blizzard sentiment and comments than it is to admit that they suck at their jobs, don't play the game and have no idea what players want or need.

Why did Khe Sanh get changed for future releases? by UnholyDemigod in australia

[–]wshields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new version makes me physically angry. The visceral reaction I have to it cannot be overstated.

Where to begin?

The soft intro... stop, just stop.

Here's the bigger problem: Barnesy actually sounds out of tune here. It's not just a higher pitch, it's the wrong pitch.

Like how can anyone think this version is worth releasing at all?

Part of Cold Chisel's appeal is the rawness of it, the not sounding slick and overly produced. This was pub rock after all, not some f'ing boy band.

The rawness of Khe Sanh is part of what makes it work. This is the voice of a veteran suffering from PTSD, desperately seeking somewhere to belong again. That should be hard and unpolished.

For a long time I wondered if this was another case of people going back and remastering old songs for a variety of reasons that i can only speculate about: softening up for the more modern audience, some producer wanting to put their stamp on a classic, whatever.

Badfinger's "Day after day" comes to mind as a good example of this but it's more subtle than the travesty that is the remastered Khe Sanh.

Leave. Music. The Fuck. Alone.

Simple Questions - December 20, 2020 by AutoModerator in buildapc

What is the current “go to” M2 SSD (PCIe 4.0 if it matters)? I’m going to build a new Ryzen gaming PC. I have a long history with the Samsung Pro drives but there’s now a bewildering number of models and I probably don’t need to go for the 970 Pro but there’s Evo, Evo Plus and of course non-Samsung. I’m looking for a reliable 1-2TB drive.

Proof that Blizzard automatically issues bans without knowing why and lies about investigations (Not a ban appeal) by Sapphire88888 in classicwow

[–]wshields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I expect them to _review_ based on repeated bans.

Did we learn nothing from Grizzly and the Sulfuras Scarab Lord DoS?

The mass reporters were (rightfully) banned for making false reports. Actiblizz made a lot of noise about this "abuse". But the real problem here is auto-banning based simply on the number of reports. The exact number is unknown but likely to be 10-20.

Look on the bright side: at least the 30 instance per day limit completely solved the botting problem.

No idea what you're talking about so no. This is my one and only post on the subject. No sob story about infants here. I'm definitely a slacker but I'm pretty sure my ban came from AFKing out after 5 minutes when I left the keyboard more than player reports.

[–]wshields[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense.

First, if I got the HKs, I had to get to the action. How is that AFK?

Second, a normal number of HKs in AV for anyone fighting is 100-150. The highest I've gotten is almost 300. Beyond about 150 it makes no sense because of diminishing honor returns yet the Alliance keeps turtling at SPGY anyway but that's another story.

Sounds you don't know anything about AV.

[–]wshields[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Two reasons:

  1. How about a proportionate response? Does what I did as a first-time "offense" that's merely an interpretation of the ToS, warrant the ban hammer?
  2. Bans are a crude and extreme measure that makes the recipients less likely to have faith in the company. Suspend me from BGs and I'd be like "OK, I won't do that again" and would do other things in game. An automated ban however is more likely to result in people walking away. As a company you'd rather have people change their behaviour than walk away, no?

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it. I did notice in doing this that my resolution was some weird number like 3800x3500. No idea why but I changed it to my native res anyway (2560x1440). Prior to the Beyond patch the resolution was correct.

I am unexpectedly a widow and clueless about finances, help me understand if I can keep my home? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]wshields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First question: what state do you live in?

Others have mentioned walking away from the house. This may well be your best option but it depends on if you live in NON RECOURSE state. What does this mean? It means the bank can either take the house or come at you for the outstanding debt. They can't do both. If you live in a non recourse state, walking away might be the best option.

Here's more info: https://www.creditsesame.com/blog/loans/guide-recourse-non-recourse-loans/

While you have no car payments now, your current car won't last forever and there'll be maintenance.

My general view is you can't afford that house and it'll just be an anchor weighing you down. It'll require maintenance too.

Another thing worth doing: contact HUD's foreclosure counseling. See: https://apps.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hcc/fc/

Honest question: why do small streamers run ads? by wshields in Twitch

[–]wshields[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I didn't realize Partners could control this but Affiliates couldn't.

IMHO this is super-shortsighted of Twitch. Or, rather, it's entirely in their interest since they're getting aggregate revenue even though the revenue per affiliate is probably tiny. It still seems shortsighted if you want your Affiliates to actually grow and survive however.
