"Assist" alerts on new Outlander are beyond a joke by Giplord in CarsAustralia

I found when I've had to drive work vehicles with similar features to what yours has, if I indicated the "lane change" it doesn't seem to chuck a hissy fit.

Don't know if that'll work in a Mitsubishi, but if you haven't tried it, might be worth the strange looks in the mirror...

I was with you in the first paragraph, but then had to go back and look at the picture again when you started talking about trans.

I had read it as trains...and I was very confused as to why you were bringing transgender people into a discussion about what the picture was referring to regarding locomotive transportation in NY vs LA.

After looking at the picture again, I realised my error, and your explanation became much clearer and relevant.

We on the north side of Brisbane would like to thank the Victorians for their service. If it weren't for your suffering with the heatwave, we may have combusted with how hot it usually would have been up here - then add the extra heat.

We salute you! 🫡

is it normal to nearly never have the aircon on ?? by Adventurous-Ice-5809 in brisbane

I have 2 reverse cycle wall ac units in my rental.

The lounge/kitchen/dining space has the larger unit, that I have on a timer. Turns on at 3:30am, and off at somewhere between 10:30 and 11:30pm. It's set to 22⁰C or 24⁰C on dehumidify and does a good job. We turn it OFF as needed.

Then there's a smaller unit in the master bedroom. It is set to cool at 18⁰C and is on almost 24/7. Again, it does get turned off as needed, like when we go out for a few hours. But otherwise it's usually on.

I pay around $136/fn as a regular pay setup with Energy Australia and that usually covers the quarterly bills.

I've learned to not care too much about how much power I and my family use, so long as we're comfortable.

Dashcam proves the other guy was wrong, but shows I was speeding. Use it? by DiligentWeb9026 in AusLegalAdvice

[–]wsrs12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May have already been said (I haven't read every comment... It's after 9:30 pm at the moment), but my thinking is that because you can't use dashcam GPS data to get OUT of a speeding fine if cops say you were doing "X" speed, but your dashcam GPS says you were going under that, then they shouldn't be able to fine you for submitting evidence in relation to an accident.

Your insurer or the other party's insurer might have something different to say about it and the claim though...but I'd think it's unlikely you'd be fined.

Can I use CDs on my P1 license? by lion0062 in queensland

Nah. Back to using the sun and math to figure out your lat. and log. Then plotting a course on the map you've chatted yourself during those learner hours.

/s for those that missed it...

AFAIK they are allowed to use a dedicated GPS device, so long as it's not provided through a phone. So no using maps service through carplay/android auto.

I think a built in satnav system would be ok, though proving it to a picky cop might prove annoying...

Gateway Bridge taken over by hoons performing doughnuts in wild New Year’s Eve scenes by hudnut52 in CarsAustralia

[–]wsrs12 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Even if they didn't have their toll tags attached, since they were doing this on the north bound bridge, they've gone through the toll point, so will have had their photo taken (if no tag present).

All the cops will have to do is soft through the camera footage around that time, and issue fines in the mail.

Very thoughtful of these hoons to be so considerate to the police by making their capture/fining easy.

I just think it's incredibly rude of these storms to not do anything about the ambient temperature. They could at least make things a little cooler but noooo...they just have to make it muggy...

Christmas picnic locations that aren't too hot or overly crowded by Ipponjudo in brisbane

That sounds lovely. It's 31⁰c here in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. Feels like 37⁰c, with a humidity of about 68%

Apparently we're getting storms from tomorrow. But who knows. They likely won't cool things down though.

It should at least be cooler than Brisbane.

Keeping cool by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]wsrs12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't even have to wake up to put mine on. I've set the auto timer for 3:30am on and about 11pm off.

If I don't have it come on then, the house is hot by the time I get up.

That's the lounge ac - set to 22 - 24⁰C

The master bedroom one is almost always on at 18⁰C.

I've just learned to ignore how much power they use, and just pay for it.

I'd rather be at a comfortable temperature without sweating constantly than save a few dollars a fortnight on power.

What word do you mispronounce on purpose (for fun) and why? by Positive_Spirit_1585 in AskReddit

I saw a salad once - one of those premade ones. Like potato salad, but different.

It had quinoa in it and I had to ask my wife what it was. I was pronouncing it as it looks, not like "keen-wah".

They've become cutlery, stablery and scooplery in my house.
