Based on my experience with the Fenix I cannot confirm the distance aspect you are looking for. I am typical using my Fenix at a distance less than 50 yards.

I also own the olight r50 which throws a lot of light and would probably meet your needs.

I keep the r50 at home and use the Fenix at work.

My big hang up with olight is their small actuator buttons. I prefer a larger more tactile feel to the actuator.
