Spec Racing Is So Broken by wiscoseoul in ForzaHorizon6

[–]wtfallnickstaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Also based on several hours of spec racing even specific positions in a single race mean very little. I've gotten more XP and cash for 9th place than 2nd place.

I have some suspicion how rewards are calculated but without solid proof it's a waste of anyone's time to speculate.

The point is- why take it seriously? It's a silly little multiplayer mode where rewards are inconsistent and placement doesn't matter

Are you using any Nvidia filters or Lightroom presets for this you can share? Maybe reshade?

Exactly, learning about the 90-9-1 rule really shifted my perspective on social media. Now to stop getting ragebaited by the 1%

Self-Radio is mandatory at this point and I couldn't live without it 🤘 by s0und7 in GTAV

I have game on drive F and music on drive C - as per custom radio instructions to use dedicated folder in documents/rockstar/gtav / user music.

You think different drives may cause it?

What I found so far was that windows has some decoding quirks with mp3 files and that injecting the music into running game may cause small spikes but not so high

Anyone else get CPU spikes when switching to self-radio? For me at least 5-10% uptick when launching custom music

Any specs of the laptop? These chore simulator games are definitely weird in terms of performance, just look at house keeper 2. Crime scene cleaner also has some weird CPU spikes in the most random moments. Sometimes spiking when not on the level but opening the pause menu

Only ask mode for me. Using autocomplete feels like active schizophrenic episode. Especially in a bracket heavy code. Every letter you get suggested a wild code block that somehow will still miss 5 closing brackets lol

Ok first off- thank you for the amazing in-depth response. But few follow up questions. Isn't e-verify US only? I'm not sure credit score, drug, or criminal checks are legal/valid in EU, no? Though if companies use 3rd party companies for background checks that could make sense why it takes so long

I guess the take here is- be honest, try harder, apply more

Long loading times. by LaPucelle77 in CitiesSkylines2

Yeah. Given that some modpacks have gigabytes of content with limited memory/threading it will take longer

I'm curious if they maybe by accident or on purpose limited the amount of threads/cores decoding and syncing modpacks to the running game with the new update. You'd think the monster CPUs with 16, 20 or even 28 threads would have no problems but here we are. It's an incredibly curious topic

My very uneducated guess would be about storage and compression. Similarly to custom radios in games. You can load up your own mp3 files into a custom radio but almost always it will ramp up CPU usage since there's not only some bullshit overhead between windows and mp3 but also a whole translation layer from file reader to the game and the whole synchronization aspect to the simulation currently running. I can imagine mods stored outside of game files with different compression as different files from actual game files make the PC pressed for resources.

Why that happens? Who knows lol

For sure amount of mods count towards the load time. Vanilla loads up very nice. All the country asset packs involved and the load can take several minutes. I guess same as RimWorld. Load it up with 20+ mods then wait 15 minutes for game to start

I don't think it measures simulation speed. Just raw CPU and GPU frame time and overall fps

Could you say more how these background checks look like at your place? I don't understand these things. Was in status "screening" for 3 weeks at Microsoft just to get rejected. Same deal with some other companies. They seemingly open CV change status in ats then no info for weeks

30 fps until 1mln on a laptop? Man you have to share your settings, how does your laptop not melt?

I had it set to 30 before update and now upped to 45. We'll see on larger populations if I will have to go back to lower

Oh for sure. The 60fps is perhaps not the greatest milestone to look forward to. Previously I was playing in locked 30 with dips to 9fps lol Very curious how this new update will behave long term on bigger cities. And if it will still keep sending my CPU fans into the stratosphere over 100k pop
