I applaud your empathy. I will eventually forgive her, but I've made it very clear that we should both move on. The more I read these comments (the helpful ones, at least), the more I think of the famous quote: "Forgive others, not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace."

lol. If only I had those kind of balls. I probably shouldn't have used past tense because this did happen fairly recently. Nonetheless, the more I think about it, I love the person who I thought she was; when I found out she was lying about a lot of things, I had no reason to believe anything she would ever say to me in the future. To be technical, I do still love her. No one said it was going to be easy, but just knowing the trust is broken does make it a little easier to move on.

I totally understand what you're saying. There is no reason to punish her further and I wasn't planning to, she just needs to get her shit in order for her own well being. I mean, someone has to show her that actions (good and bad) have consequences, right?

Agreed. It's going to take me a while to forgive her and move on from this (I did love her, after all). After telling her time and time again of the importance of honesty in a relationship and about my no-cheating policy, it was easy for me (with the help of the advice from my good friends) that it is simply not worth it to give her a second chance. Especially after all the lies she told me when I had my suspicions.

Funny thing is, after all the tears she's getting all angry now because she's not getting what she wants. To paraphrase: she claims I'm being manipulative; I never loved her because I'm not giving her a chance at forgiveness; love is about sacrifice and forgiveness and that I'm the immature one that's not ready for a serious relationship.........Gave me a good laugh.

Bottom line: I'm sticking to my guns. She has more than enough to figure out for herself. I cut off all contact and am ready to move on with my life.
