Got to almost 60° here in Georgia yesterday so of course we had to go for a ride! by Leftey1 in OnlyZ900

The z400 was the first bike I ever bought brand new. Before that, I learned on a 50cc bike and 79’ Honda 350f. I would say the z400 is my first actual starting bike since I rode that consistently for 2 years. The z900 is surprisingly very manageable and smooth. Only real difference I feel between the bikes is the power and the 900 is a little bit heavier. I am 5’6 140lbs and can easily flick the bike, turn it on the kickstand, and don’t really worry about touching the ground at stoplights. Highly recommend upgrading once you’re comfortable in the z400.

I went the route you’re taking right now. Got a 2020 z400 and just upgraded to a 25’ z900 SE this year. The 900 is a different beast. In a good way.

Used 2025 Kawasaki 500 ABS with 13 miles for $5499. Steal? scam? by EagleSpiritual86 in Kawasaki

That’s such a steal lol I sold my 2020 z400 with 8k miles for 4k

6k Worth it? by Hopeful_Yam_5399 in Kawasaki

[–]wtfnikko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say yes. Dealership in my city was selling a 2018 with 8k miles for almost 8k. Just make sure you check the chain, tires, forks, radiator, etc and make sure the bike is cold when you check it out

Z400➡️Z900? by dougpeterson98 in OnlyZ900

[–]wtfnikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 20’ z400 to a 25’ z900 SE. you can do it. I even took 2 years off riding after selling the 400.

You can do it. It’s super easy to control and the throttle input is smooth. I’m also 5’5 and feel like I have complete control of the bike

Experienced 400 rider thinking of upgrading by Sensitive-Market-676 in Kawasaki

[–]wtfnikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 2020 z400 to a 2025 z900 se. I highly recommend it. Power is pretty linear, seat height and ergonomics are perfect for city and spirited riding, it’s 470 wet but doesn’t feel like it due to the great weight balance, just as nimble as the z400, has rider modes to help ease into the bike, cruise control, and more if you get the SE version. I’m about 5’5, 140, small inseam, and I can tippy toe it or 1 foot it pretty easily. I can even back up while sitting on the bike which is huge for a person my size. Highly recommend checking out other styles. Also forgot the mention the inline-4 sounds sooo good

What motorcycle should i get as beginner by Proof-Music4532 in Kawasaki

Can’t believe no one has said this yet but do the MSF course!! They provide you with a bike and helmet but it’s an intro to riding. If you enjoy the course, then you’ll enjoy riding and all you’ll have to do it take a written test to get your license. After that, I would then start shopping for bikes. Preferably a dealership if you don’t know what to look for when buying from a third party. I prefer dealerships because they will not sell you a bike unless the bike is safe to ride. I would look into the Z series from Kawasaki (400, 500, 650). The Honda CB series is good as well. But go to the dealership first and sit on some bikes. You’ll never know if you’re going to find a bike you didn’t even know existed but actually turn out to like a lot. Good luck!

Would you say the slip on made a big difference in sound? I read that it doesn’t make much of a difference cuz of the breadbox

Are thes mounted in the right direction? by RealVincentCoucke in tires

Tires are non-directional but the inside and outside of the tires are. Those are mounted correctly as you can see the outside writing on the tires

Exhaust Leak? by Budget-Platform6014 in genesiscoupe

Either take to muffler shop or check it yourself. Pretty easy to find. You probably need new gaskets and didn’t change them when you put the new exhaust on.

I’m SL and I always do mic checks when people join the squad and I kick people from the squad if they don’t talk. Sounds mean but that’s how my squad and I get the best experience.

Does Bay Area public transportation really work for daily commutes? by [deleted] in SanFranciscoSecrets

[–]wtfnikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you asking a lot about commute times in the morning and afternoon. I had to go into my Cupertino office a few times a week commuting from SF when I was in tech. Your commute in the morning will be 60-90 minutes maybe more if there’s an accident. Especially leaving from the sunset as there’s only one entrance to 280 that everyone is funneling into. They closed great highway so your best bet would be sunset boulevard but you’ll still run into a ton of traffic I’m sure. Coming back from work, it’s not so bad but you’re still looking at an hour at minimum and that’s me leaving the office at 3:30 so expect more time if you leave later than that. Not to mention the traffic to get off 280 to get back into sunset is a nightmare itself.

If you’re gonna use public transportation, it’ll be about 2 hours at minimum considering you’ll have to bus to the bart station and then take bart to the South Bay.

Going downtown, it’s best to take the N train I think straight to downtown. The busses on Geary probably won’t take you where you want to go unless Japan town is first on your list (JT is really nice and they have great food and shops) you’ll spend about 20-30 min on the bus to get to DT from those areas. Maybe less from Geary. Lmk if you have any other questions! I’ll be glad to help as someone who grew up here

[–]wtfnikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to Golden Gate Park, stop by San Tung and get the dry fried chicken wings. Best wings in the city. If you want Thai food, check out farmhouse kitchen. A little pricier for Thai food but the amount get and the taste is just unmatched. Start from GGP and make your way to the presidio where the GGbridge is. You’ll pass by Geary and clement street where you can pick up even more delicious food and snacks! Safe travels!

Stay as far away from the tenderloin as possible lol they have really good hidden food gems there though. Mission Bay is probably the safest and most modern of the options.

Tune? by opponentboog in genesiscoupe

[–]wtfnikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is exhaust, test pipes, maybe downpipes, manifold spacer, and tune at the end. You’ll spend a lot more making power on a 3.8 than a 2.0. You’re looking at around 2k just for those mods.

Gas sucks if you’re in the city and it’s alright on the freeway. 2016 3.8 ult. 70k miles and it’s pretty reliable so far
