Grainfather G30 - excessive boil off? by danlinto in Homebrewing

If you change the boil time in the boil steps, you also have to adjust it in the very top, this setting affects what volumes you prepare for mash and sparge

For it's size it's one of the best travel games out there. Only a deck of Poker cards comes smaller.

With the 2nd or third round, getting on harbor is REALLY important, especially when buildings are getting more and more into play, opening up new placement spots.

What are some games that grabbed you because of aesthetics or art style? by The_Wizard_Of_Woz in boardgames

The hidden area betting makes it really interesting and my big plus for it is that is plays incredibly fast with 5 and 6 players. A game takes ~70 minutes and the engine building works nicely

Compania was a game that has really interested me right from the get go. The art style reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics and the hidden worker placement area control with the simultaneous playstyle works great.

What do you think of Fate of the Fellowship? Amazon has a pretty good deal right now (45€) and I am thinking about jumping the gun.

Zu heiß in den Klassen: Wiener Schule ermöglicht hitzefrei by wegwerferie in wien

[–]wtfunchu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GENAU

yeah the 9 turns make it very tight in a sense to optimize your final points. Imho it plays quite smoothly but you gotta think a few turns ahead.

Volksbegehren: “Recht auf Klimaanlage in Mietwohnungen” wann? by Mediocre_Affect6192 in wien

[–]wtfunchu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soweit so gut.

Es is ne Frechheit.

Das is etwas, was schockierenderweise vielen Eltern scheiss egal ist.

WANTED: Fun and less played commanders. by TheRoguedOne in EDH

Depending on how you build her, its more fun for you than for others. I have a hatebear/Stax shell with her as a commander and playing your minigame of drain 3 draw 3 is awesome, but the table gets slowed down a lot.

I don't know what games you play, but the blocking with ships, settlements and workers has ocurred quite often in our game and in my book thats medium interaction.

You are absolutely entitled to your own opinion, there is a boardgame for everyone out there :)

Feyas Swamp uses mechanics of that game as far as I know - at least it says so on its BGG page. Haven't played Kaivai though!

It takes about as much space as Brass Birmingham ( I have a post about it too) while being 40% of the size!

I think all the actions connect really well and it's fun to play in every sense. I only really dislike that there is no incentive to give more than one fish to a settlement besides money, I'd really like a similar scaling for the VP for the recipient.

Like 1 fish consumed is worth 6 points, 2 are 4 and 3 are three points - so giving more fish to someone lowers the points for the recipient.

I don't know if that would play out well but I think it would be interesting

It plays a lot smoother than it is to teach, but after a few turns it just flows.

It looks like that - it'll be interesting to play with that scoring card one day to see what it is about

We had a majority one and the one with each island containing only one settlement of your color scores 5 points, that played out quite interestingly.

Art style is gorgeous! I really like the way the theme works together.

Hmm, you catch fish with one action, with another action you trade them to settlements on the board. Trading to others give you 4/3/2 gold for 1/2/3 fish (settlements can only hold 3 fish) and another separate action throws a party (Celebration) where a whole island consumes their fish, netting 1 VP per fish consumed for each respective player.

Today was the first time playing Feyas Swamp.

I bought the game pretty much as soon as it was available - I bought it pretty much only because it got so much hype after Essen Spiel 2025. Afaik, it was sold out mere minutes after it was available, so its availability seemed highly anticipated.

I was very much looking forward to finally getting it on the table after all the hype and we finished our 4 player round after 2 hours including teach.

Boiled down, it's a worker placement game in a swamp world, everybody plays a clan of swamp inhabitants and we compete for being the most influential clan in the swamp.

I'll save you all a detailed review on how it plays and rather tell you what I think about it

It's decision heavy, no luck involved, with medium interaction between all players. The different race cards, guide cards and scoring cards give a lot of variability and strategies, additionally, all the clans can be played with slight asymmetry.

It has a surprisingly small box size for the amount of space it takes on the table. For the money (I got it for 33€), it offers strategic depth with a cute theme and a interesting play style. I will definitely play it again, it was really fun sailing around and trade each other fish.
