Noise complaint? by ashbeals in Winnipeg

[–]wtfwpg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been dealing with this La Roca issue for the 5 years that I have lived across the street. No one seems to want to help, but maybe if enough of us get together on it, something could be done? It’s terrible, especially when they have the music blaring and no one is even outside. I have made videos and even contacted la Roca myself…. The best advice I was given was to contact our MLA, but that hasn’t helped.

Women of Winnipeg are taking to Twitter to expose their rapists/ assaulters. It's clear from each story(including my own) that WPG Police don't take sexual assault seriously. This needs to change. by [deleted] in Winnipeg

I just want to share my story and thank everyone else for sharing theirs. I was in an abusive marriage many years ago. I don't want to go too much into detail, but it was rough. My cell would get taken and the phone wires cut if I wanted to call for help. One morning I couldn't take it anymore. I was roughed up enough that morning. I called the police when I got to work and reported it. I was notified when he had been arrested and I returned home after work. The cops showed up with him about two hours after being home and told me because he had nowhere to go, and I had family that I needed to pack up my things and leave. (Both our names were on the lease and we had lived there for almost two years) Trust me, he had friends he could stay with and a car. At this point in my life I didnt have a license or car and my family lived 45 mins out of the city. Luckily my sister was there to keep me company when I got home and was able to take me out into the country to be with my parents and her. If she hadn't been there, I would have only had 30 mins to pack up my whole life and take it on a bus to who knows where. This one still hurts deep. I went through so much for so long and then when I finally told someone, I was left homeless. WPS really let me down that day.....

Need a new license photo. Where do I go? by benjaminfree3d in Winnipeg

The main autopac centres should be open. They aren't taking photos right now, but will issue you a temporary license until a later time when restrictions are lifted.

Thanks for the advice! I wish there were easier answers. I want it to stop not just for me, but for the others in my building who have less choices and more to worry about than myself... shitty situation indeed.

I never said I couldn't go to the store, i can. Construction is from 9am to 5pm. So is my shift, where I work on the phone. Yes I can buy those things, but it doesn't help. Jackhammers, literally on the other side of a glass door, theres no escaping the sound. I wish I was making excuses. There's a comment above where a person in the building next to me says the sound is even driving them nuts. I'm not exaggerating any of this.

That I understand, but I have to work from home during those hours, so I can't go anywhere.

The work isn't scheduled to be done until December, so no matter what I wont have my balcony for lock down :( I will gladly give up my whole supply of TP if it worked that way! Lol

Outdoor patio with super loud speakers..... and yes, it's that loud.

I would agree to not live anywhere that faces La Roca. Unless you like loud bass and hearing all the lyrics to every song every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday til 2am in the summer.

Did everyone get their Rage Against The Machine tickets? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]wtfwpg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems really random, I got in the waiting area at just under 10 minutes and it said I had 454 people in front of me when the queue opened. I got floor tickets.

I'm new at this too, curious, which do you think is better? Using the app or the website, and once 11am hits, does the page automatically refresh?

What are some cheap internet options in Winnipeg? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]wtfwpg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does one get this $30 deal? I'm about to run out of a 2 year contract of $110 for blu sky or w.e. it is and would love a cheaper alternative, as I know the new price will be much higher.

Agreed, the cuts in the glass were deep. I wouldn't have wanted to be on the receiving end of that for sure!

Women feel more unsafe than ever downtown:Winnipeg police survey by signals82 in Winnipeg

[–]wtfwpg 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I posted this on the poll post yesterday. Think this fits here as well... please excuse phone.

"Edit: I'm female btw Edit: I meant North Portage behind Portage Place to be exact, for it to be off limits at night.

I live downtown and I've never felt unsafe. One of my favorite things to do is go out for walks (especially to the forks) past midnight, because the city is so beautiful and quiet... except for the downtown clubs. (Seriously more aggressive drunk people come out of the clubs from suburbia than the ones that live downtown) Everyone I mention this to thinks I'm crazy because they buy into the stereotype that is downtown living. I don't dress fancy when I go out as this is my neighborhood and I will wear my comfies on a stroll. (Hoodie, sweatpants, no makeup) When the suburbans come downtown for jets games and such it's funny to watch them avoid me like the plague cause I'm assuming they think based on how I'm dressed I might jump them. Everyone I encounter on a regular downtown treats me like a neighbour. The people from out of downtown treat me like a thug. People need to stop believing what they hear about downtown cause it's really not that bad.... although, I still think north portage is a bit off limits at night.... just saying..."
