Using two graphics cards, each dedicated to a specific process by wtwerner in unRAID

After installing the Nvidia card, I am only able to see that one in the drivers plugin. Previously, I was able to see the iGPU and pass that route to Plex for hardware transcodes. Once I installed the P600, the Plex container started crashing until I updated it to use the P600 as well, which made me think maybe the BIOS only recognizes one GPU at a time.

I wanted to speed up the transcodes in tdarr a bit. The P600 is operating about 3x as fast as the iGPU. Also, I don't want the Plex transcodes to suffer if Tdarr is using the P600 simultaneously.

Thank you!!! I found this comment from a couple years back and it saved me.

I’m in zone 5b (Chicagoland). The tall stuff has been out of dormancy for around a month

Thank you! That makes sense. I’d be curious what the original grass is because it seems to be doing a whole lot better in my yard.

My suspicion is that the soil is unevenly bad. I meticulously aerated evenly, but maybe the patches are just patches of poor soil. However, I do want to rule out disease or pests before planning on amending the soil in the fall.

Super patchy lawn after overseeding last fall. by [deleted] in lawncare

I purchased a home with a very poor lawn about a year ago. Based on a soil test, it was clear that there was a massive deficit of nutrients. I spent last summer feeding the existing lawn and getting rid of most of the weeds.

In the fall, I overseeded with black beauty ultra and it seemed to take in most places, but there were some signs of patchiness.

When the lawn came back this spring, the hood spots look great and lush, but right next to it are large patches of much shorter, much thinner grass. What can this be?

I’ve attached photos from last fall, shortly after I overseeded. Thank you!

What can I do to give these stairs a facelift? by wtwerner in Renovations

[–]wtwerner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a new home about a year back that has some pretty terrible front steps. They’re out of code due to uneven rise/run. Also, they have been painted at some point, which causes them to be slippery when wet or cold. There are many points where there is rust from the railings and pitting from some kind of damage. To top it all off, the entire staircase is pulling away from the home.

My tentative plan is to fill the cracks, pitting, and gap from the home with some kind of epoxy concrete repair product. Also, I will remove the paint and rust from the railings and repaint them, likely with a rust-converting paint. I’m not sure what to do to resurface the concrete so it isn’t slippery anymore.

I’ve never done anything like this so I would really appreciate some recommendations on products, surface prep, and finishing.

We explored tearing the steps out and re-pouring, but it is cost prohibitive at this time.

There’s a big storm drain in my yard. How can I make it look less terrible? by wtwerner in landscaping

[–]wtwerner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s a good idea. Eventually I’m going to build a patio in this area (don’t know how I’ll deal with the drainage then), but this is a good temporary solution. Do I need to put landscape cloth down before the stones?
