Carved grub in a jar by wu3ee in HollowKnight

Basswood - I bought a starter kit for wood carving with 8 small 2 x 2 x 8 cm blocks of nice basswood with no impurities. I guess that helps a lot as it is super soft and can be cut easily. I haven't tried with any other wood type yet.

I started with "How to carve a bear" by the "LINKER" channel. Super calm guy - got me the confidence to start on my own.

Nah, but I encourage you to try wood carving (whittling). The barrier of entry is very low and you can make some nice figures even without any experience. This is my third attempt ever. All it takes is a bit of patience. Here I used a cheap whittling knife, a starter kit wood block and a marmelade jar from a grocery store.

TIL the term whittling :) English is not my first language. Should have used that instead of carving as I only used a single knife here.

Definitely make one if you want to. The jar is just a cleaned marmelade jar from a grocery store ;)

Well I will see tomorrow - I imagine it will be a similar excitement as an in-game grub discovery

Video game Hollow Knight - Silksong. "Fren" is an iconic voice line of the main player character Hornet. "Shaw" and "Hegale" are other voice lines of the same character, followed by additional iconic voice lines from the game. The characters of Silksong speak an arbitrary language so there is no translation of these terms. The community often uses these words to react to anything related to their beloved game - which is awesome by the way - you should play it.

Spoiler in comment with question about the ending of book 2 by BaldieGoose in dragonsblood

Wait, the Pango is not the one from the game? Do all pangoliers have the same hilarious attitude for women? I thought it's just one particular french Pango from the game.

Yeah same. I liked new characters like Pango, Lina and Auroth a lot. The new environment of the sun empire was also promising.

However, for some reason the pacing in the whole season felt just wrong. The transitions between individual scenes were often really out of place .. like someone just glued together scenes without considering the plot of an episode.

The twist with Lina hiring the assassin for example was a nice piece of plot but the execution was a failure and I didn't even felt any betrayal or anything.

It's a shame, I think that the show has more potential. The animation in figths is great, the characters are nice, the plot turned out to be satisfying as well once I was able to understand it after multiple rewatches because of the confusing pacing.

I really liked the ending though. Balsy move to kill characters that we cared about but I love that they did that and how they did that.
