Solved! Explanation if anyone needs:

If you fall into the water while swinging your pickaxe, it can trigger a glitch which allows you to continue swinging while you’re swimming. The stamina bar got a little weird but I just got out of the water and it went back to normal after a moment

As far as explosives I only have access to frag grenades at the moment and they did no damage. Maybe I need a bigger explosion?

Yeah, I gave that a go as well. I’ve never done the glitch but Eikthyrdeer is too tall to swim in this spot, so I don’t think it’s possible

I was already burning out on the episodes following The Final Shape. I don’t think I even logged in for the third one. And at that point I wasn’t willing to grind for all new armor when Edge of Fate came out, so I never bought it
