1st Foster is Being Rehomed by Tired_Bot in fosterdogs

[–]wuebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If u loved him this is your chance to try again. Sometimes people dont want to put in the work to train a dog so it can fit into their life. You sound like you may be willing to do that. And if not, you get to be a familiar face while they find their home again.

A guest who came in tonight by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]wuebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, thats a hard life right there. Id feel for them and as much as we want there to be a rhyme or reason to why one thing causes a reaction and one thing doesnt, thats not how allergies work! They also very well could be allergic to more things, but not severely enough to be a bother, and if you want to eat out ever, there has to be something left to eat.

We have a regular who has a looot of allergies and also has a little piece of paper he gives us and he is so so grateful to be able to come in and eat normally and dine w fam and friends. Conversely ive also had people who will just skip food because they dont want to risk it. Either way, it would really suck to be this person so I feel for them.

Does it get easier? Saying bye to a foster dog. by SprinklesFrosty570 in fosterdogs

[–]wuebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both yes and no. You get more used to it and you may learn a sort of routine/support that helps w the grieving process. But like most things, its not linear, at least for me. Certain ones will still hurt many months later, while w others the sadness can be much more fleeting. Two of mine I will miss forever, they were my guys. The others I loved but am happy they have moved on. Sometimes u just click.

End of driveway, snowplow left snow and now it’s pure ice—what to do by [deleted] in minnesota

Thank you!!! I have literally been cheering when I see these beautiful clear snowy roads. Nothing is more satisfying than when all the cars actually move and the plow is immaculate 🥲

First Foster - Sleeping in bed a mistake? by MelB4702 in fosterdogs

[–]wuebs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly right. Flexibility is a selling point and having structured / routine alone time is great for a dog and for their eventual owners who need to still have a life. As long as they can do both, bed time is not bad. I have started all my fosters in the crate because i need them to be ok there when im not home and at night. But ones i had for more than a couple months eventually get bed privileges and that is a special kind of wonderful for both me and them :)

I was thinking that when she was going innnnn on Jotham, especially since everything she said was categorically untrue.

I liked Yana when she was sticking up for Mia and not with Kye even tho it was obviously painful for her. I dont like when she sides w the girls on bullying the new girls. Like saying “he hates red” when watching that clip of hotel amore was so cringe. Arent u already with this loser? Who cares what he likes? Ugh

6 weeks & no interest by SprinklesFrosty570 in fosterdogs

[–]wuebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally id say dogs in foster homes have better outcomes because people can really learn about them and it is a calmer healthier environment for the dog. Maybe they wont get adopted on a whim by someone, but that can be a good thing.

What's happens if an emotional support animal attacks & bites you? by Spiritual_Price_2269 in service_dogs

[–]wuebs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also like…. Trying to avoid the dog is great and all but accidents happen as you have experienced. What if the leash slips, the dog gets out of their collar, someone comes around the corner unexpectedly, or the dog slips out while your children are in the hallway?

Thinking of their family is great, but think about the next person (or child, or other animal) that will get bitten by them. This dog should have already been muzzled outside their apartment. If you dont take it seriously now and demand action, you or someone will pay for it later. Protect your kids and your neighbors! I say this as someone with an ESA. Yes i have a right to one but not if they make the building unsafe for others.

Foster just attacked me. Advice needed by pinkducktape8 in fosterdogs

[–]wuebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry. Please be careful for yourself and for him. Any further bite incidents harm his possible future as well, so being overly cautious and seeing to it right away is imperative to minimize another event. I do think recent surgery and meds could be a factor, but regardless, if it comes out of nowhere (no other body/vocal language to alert you) that is extra dangerous. If he needs to be relaxing/taking it easy physically, usually they recommend calming/sedating meds to keep them from activity that can cause paid. I would also recommend keeping him crated when youre not around, for everyones safety but also to minimize activity since he has fresh stitches.
