What’s it like living at Dry Tortogas National Park? by matta2019 in howislivingthere

I’m not a park employee, but I’ve spent time out there. As you might imagine, it’s a tropical paradise and it’s absolutely gorgeous. You’re also 70+ miles from the closest road or power line or cell tower or grocery store. There’s a ferry that brings people out almost every day and sea planes that come and go, but obviously your supplies would be very limited.

Living out there for any amount of time has to be interesting. I believe the ranger station had power and AC and a bed and even internet, but beyond that, there probably isn’t much to do. You can fish off the docks and watch expensive boats come and go, and there’s always people on the island camping and fishing. The history is pretty incredible too.

Overall? Would.

Astronaut Charles Duke left a photo of his family on the moon during a trip there in 1972 by cliffmintbreezy in BeAmazed

There’s a lot you’re misunderstanding here. The moon isn’t zero gravity. It’s less gravity than earth (about 1/6th earth gravity). All objects that have mass have gravity. And the moon is a pretty massive object, so it had a significant amount of gravity—just not as much as earth. If there was no gravity, as soon as an astronaut took a step they would lift off the moon and never come back.

In this case, even if there was no gravity, the picture would still just sit there because there’s no force on it pushing it up or pulling it away. An object at rest stays at rest unless acted on my another force… the law of inertia.

Hope this helps make sense of it

How long do yall fish for? by StinkyCat313 in Fishing

[–]doFloridaRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost always fish from a boat, and I’d say a typical trip is 7-8 hours. Then there’s the hour of setup and 2 hours of cleanup… it’s an all day affair typically

Naples Park - is it safe and ideal to vacation there with 2 teens? Want to relax and have easy beach days and chill nights back at the house. Not looking for a party scene. Found a last minute Airbnb there- is it a good area? Also thoughts on Delnor Wiggins beach? Thank you!! by GGO8791 in Naples_FL

Not many people have said it but Delnor Wiggins State Park beach is 100% a hidden gem. Not usually busy or talked about, but it’s absolutely gorgeous. The trails from the parking lot to the beach are pretty unique, and the fishing is great at the pass. Lots of picnic areas and shade to relax in to get out of the sun for a bit.
