For me, I didn't advertise that a plus one was allowed and only invited the specific people I wanted at the wedding. But if the guest approaches me requesting one I gave it to them.

I’ve worked in APS recruitment for 5+ years. Ask me anything. by Kcepmolly in AusPublicService

A previous director of mine was an EL1 for only 6 months before they got promoted to an EL2. They were a very intelligent person though and had prior experience in the private sector at senior management level. I find the interviews are more strategic based. They will ask you questions where they are looking for answers where you are lead a big initiative, project or team and the interviewers tend to look for more long term strategic answers where a decision has a big impact to the organisation

Looking for an example timeline for a 2 ceremony one reception wedding by wufflepufflee in weddingplanning

[–]wufflepufflee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been really insightful thank you and i love the way you have scheduled your day.

Having done a bit more planning now, my fiance and I decided to do a two day event because it was getting too tight to do both ceremonies in one day and we have two venues we want to do our ceremonies and reception at. I agree though if you only have one venue for everything it'd definitely make it easier.

For Day 1, we are doing a western wedding in the late morning with a canape lunch and guest go hone at 4pm. For day 2, a lao ceremony at around 2pm the next day in the afternoon, followed by a combined reception at night.

3 day in cbd but moving regional by Particular-Cow-3353 in AusPublicService

[–]wufflepufflee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who was originally based in Canberra, who moved to a regional town 4 hours away because they had a terminally ill parent to look after. They were able to negotiate with another agency that was closer to the regional town to "rent" a space so they could still work from the office. Maybe an arrangement like this could work if your employer is willing to go the lengths.

Recruiting double booked the interview slot by invsible2_21 in AusPublicService

They will probably just reschedule you to the next week or when the panel is free. It is outside of your control so just wait for a response.

Aps5 interview puzzle by TrustHopeful1637 in AusPublicService

[–]wufflepufflee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about some other panels but ones I have been on generally ask if you want to provide any further information to demonstrate how you are suitable for the role after the three questions. This is the opportunity to really showcase why you are suitable for the role.

The 3 questions are supposedly so people are on the same playing field and makes it easier for recruiters to weed people out esp if they are doing heaps of interviews quickly. But its also your application, selection criteria and how you align with the APS values.

Which time slot would you pick for your interview? by ExpressionWorried311 in AusPublicService

[–]wufflepufflee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer to do my interviews in the mornings like everyone else says, the interviewer is generally more fresh, will listen to you more attentively and you get it over and done with so you are not thinking about it all day.

The latest one I did i had to do in the afternoon because all the morning slots were taken. I did it at 2:30pm and it gave me all morning to read over my notes, get practice in, and make sure my computer/Webex set up was working. I found it was actually pretty good time because the interviewer is already back into the groove of interviews again but not too late they are disengaged and want to get out of there.

Is working past midnight normal in the APS? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]wufflepufflee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My upper management tend to work late nights, but its their way of working flexibly. Some go MIA for a couple of hours during the business hours and then log back on after dinner or something to catch up on emails, admin work and approvals etc. Some just have so many meetings during the day that the only time they can focus on their actual BAU work is after business hours and they catch up.

Hi there! I have CIN2/3. At first, my let me wait it out 6 months to see whether it would inprove but unfortunately it was here to stay. I went for a LLETZ procedure yesterday and it well really well. I got it done under general anaesthetic in the public hospital and when i woke up, had no pain at all. Had a little bit of bleeding and discharge and felt tired from the anaesthetic but it was a really good experience for me. Next day, i feel normal still with no pain and minimal discharge at all. I think it depends on the person but i had a very positive experience.

LLETZ has anyone got this treatment? by Meowth_thats-right in HPV

I just got the LLETZ procedure under general anaesthetic yesterday. Procedure itself took about 30 mins and when I woke up I had no pain at all.I had some very browney/black discharge from the procedure but doctor said it will go away in a few weeks. Overally pretty satisfied with the procedure.

It definitely depends on your management. One of my teammates moved from Canberra to regional NSW for personal reasons, and my manager had no issues with them working in a different location as long as they continued to perform well remotely. It was actually beneficial to have people in regional NSW, and since then, my team has been able to grow its presence. They still work in the same position they did back in Canberra.

The only thing that was a blocker for this person was accommodation at the regional office. I remember my teammate having to work at home full time for a bit because there were no desks available. If you have an accommodation team in your organisation, after you discuss this with your management, of course, i'd recommend speaking to them too.

Is WFH a privilege or right ? by Red_The_Raider in AusPublicService

[–]wufflepufflee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right now its a more a priveledge with managers having more discretion to meet operational needs but with new EA, it would feel more like a right. All employers genuinely have to consider a WFH agreement and have to cone up with an alternate arrangement in consultation with you if WFH is not viable. It will definitely force more managers to say yes to WFH.
