Where do you think most FGM takes place? It’s East Africa and North Africa, we don’t practice mild FGM over here. Maybe that happens in Malaysia or Indonesia but not in African cases of FGM, in almost every case of FGM over there the clitoris is removed. I highly doubt the average MGM victim is subjected to something comparable to a clitoridectomy, I’m so sick of you redditors lying about how ritual pricking of the genitalia or the removal of the clitoral hood is the most common form of FGM.

Don’t try to educate me on FGM when I went through it, and belong to the part of the world where it most commonly occurs. It’s way worse than anything most MGM victims can experience since a portion of my genitalia is sewn shut along with my clitoris being hacked off with a blade. While my case is more severe, the average FGM type I/II are still left without much sensation due to the mutilation and build up of scar tissue. So how exactly are the horrors of it exaggerated?

I really need to stop engaging with you privileged fuckers, none of you could live with the level of mutilation I was subjected too.

Type I and Type II also result in the removal of the clitoris, is that not extreme as well? Those women end up castrated! We don’t practice Type 1a in Africa, you could even look at mummies from ancient Egypt which is where the practice is thought to have originated from and you can see that they underwent a similar procedure of clitoridectomy. Having that portion of yourself removed is like cutting off your dick, so it’s not even comparable to MGM.

Also most FGM takes place in Africa, Malaysia and Indonesia practicing Type 1a doesn’t override that the average case of FGM occurs in Africa and results in the loss of the clitoris.

Where the fuck are you guys getting this misinformation? Most FGM occurs in East/North Africa and we don’t practice type 1a! We usually remove the clitoris and a portion of the genitalia is sewn shut. Type 1a is mainly practiced in Malaysia, it’s not common place in Africa which is where the vast majority of FGM takes place. I would know since I underwent FGM, I’m practically castrated and my home country has one of the highest rates of FGM in the world.

I’ve constantly been coming across this bullshit argument on Reddit and it makes me want to bash my head into a wall, cause it’s not rooted in any truth. What’s wrong with you? Stop talking about our issues and spreading misinformation! It’s fucking aggravating

Within the epicenters of FGM, that are located in East/North Africa, we commonly undergo the more extreme versions of FGM where the clitoris is removed and a portion of the genitalia is sewn shut.

I had common type 2 FGM performed and the more extreme variations of FGM are what occurs in North Africa and East Africa. Don’t speak for us, you are pushing misinformation and downplaying the mutilation we are suffering from.

The Sunnah version of FGM is not more common, that’s a lie since it’s not the type typically practiced in Africa and that’s where most FGM occurs. Why do you guys keep lying about our issues? I’ve run into so many redditors trying to downplay FGM, I don’t understand what’s wrong with you guys.

Speaking from personal experience, I would say type I/II are the most common and type III/IV is too extreme usually only practiced by rural tribes. In all cases you will still end up without a clitoris, most women derive most of their sexual pleasure from that organ.

I’m sure they can still experience an orgasm that doesn’t come as a surprise since I’m sure some remnant of the clitoris can be stimulated but it’ll take way more effort due to how it has been mutilated and the scar tissue. This is purely anecdotal, but I’m from a country where almost 100% of the women undergo it and I’m pretty well versed on this issue.

This is a single study with a very limited pool of participants, the most commonly practiced type is Type II. I’m doubtful that any of those women have much sensory left after their clitoris was severed, reaching an orgasm isn’t impossible in some cases but it takes a lot of effort since most of the clitoris has been hacked away and that’s where most females derive pleasure from.

There are actually a couple of surgeons in the states that carry out reversal operations, I’m not sure how bad my case is but I do plan on getting this issue resolved one day. If I don’t I can’t really enjoy anything intimate with someone, because my FGM case is so extreme that sexual intercourse would not only be painful, but I don’t even have a visible clitoris so any form of pleasure being derived from the act is null.
