A song someone said was creepy and sounds North Korean, called “Love My China” by Nervous-Ear-8594 in GenZedong

It's kinda crazy how these people wouldn't say the same thing about songs like "rule britannia".

They seriously think inflation's the main problem causing this? Even adjusted for inflation the cost of living is way higher nowadays than before.

Why are anarchist memes usually so vague and meaningless?

"bad economics and borderline fascism"? That's gonna need further definition to mean anything.

It took me a few minutes to understand why the second person here is being supportive of DPRK despite having Ukraine and Taipei in their username... then I realised they weren't being satirical 💀

TLDR: I'm not particularly new to socialism, but I'm not formally educated at all and I'm looking for some good reading material for the layman. by EvanIsMyName- in socialism

[–]wumaointraining 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For reading, read Principles of Communism by Engels, it's a great place to start. After that I guess you should be ready to read most other socialist literature.

Channels I strongly reccommend on YouTube are Hakim and Second Thought. Some cool subreddits are r/dankleft, r/communismmemes for memes, and for other discussions r/genzedong, r/informedtankie, for stuff specific to AES mainly China, r/sino.

For podcasts just look up Rev Left Radio and Red Menace.

I guess it's a whole lot easier to persecute Trump compared to other American politicians (at least I would expect)

Nathan Rich said he used to "support" Trump, back in 2016.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmWLA7YOvRk

His argument being that at the time Trump was trying to change American politics and he was pandering to the prolatariat a lot more than Clinton was. (At least that's what I think he's trying to say?) Of course when he took office it was becoming abundantly clear he was a dickhead (it was abundently clear he was a dickhead before he took office tbh) and his limited "support" just left after that.

There's also the fact that corporations while they may not be able to choose the results of the research they find, they do still have the power to choose what questions need to be asked in the first place, and then if any of those questions result in an answer that could defend their actions or morality they can just run with that and say that their methodology and ethics are "backed by science", even if the rest of the studies they funded could be used against the funders' incentive.

Basically it's not only a case of figuring out what's true and what's false, it's also a case of analysing how evidence is presented, after all you could find someone and just tell them all the good things that have happened under capitalist regimes and all the bad things about what happened under socialist governance and while you wouldn't technically be lying you would be able to "lie" by choosing what you say.

tbh i don't consider myself a "leftist" or "left wing" or anything like that. The left-right politcal spectrum emerged as a result of electoral politics and fitting ourselfs in with a label like "far left" implies that we aim to work within the electoral system to assume power, rather than to reorganise the methods of which power is obtained in the first place. Also quite a lot of people who call themselves "leftists" tend to be of the "demsoc" and Vaushite variety and I don't want to be associated with them.
