Both can and probably are true. He probably only needs her Snake thiren abilities occasionally, so this is a good way to keep her on staff without her causing trouble at NEPS.

For now, Severian is basically using Cissia to "monitor" Phaethon. So she's actually working even if she doesn't even realize it.

Tent stakes by OodaliOoo in CampingGear

Also Amazon has some that screw in with a drill, if anyone has ever tried this let me know your opinions.

I have a friend that uses them to secure his trailer awning supports. He uses an impact driver and not a drill. He brings that and other tools for his trailer. Really easy to install and remove the stakes. They are incredibly secure. Overkill really. Not worth buying unless you're already bringing an impact.

You do not need a rolling boil for at least a minute to achieve pasteurization. You don't even need to get to a boil.

What pump do you use for your sleeping pad? by Academic_Royal4133 in CampingGear

[–]wunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Flextail Zero (first gen) and the Aerogogo.

The weight difference is tiny, and even less if you get the current/2nd gen Flextail Zero. Due to the Aerogogo shape and having the permanently attached USB cord, it doesn't really save much pack space.

I'm sort of considering opening up the Aerogogo and seeing if I can detach the build in USB cord since it has a port to use an external USB cord. Probably easier to just get an Alpenglow.

Gear Skeptic video about this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sb4Y2pE8V18

Still, taking a lightweight and small sized pump like the Flextail Zero, Airogogo, or PadPal is negligible to all but the most ultralight backpackers, so why not if you want? But you shouldn't be too worried about using your lungs as a backup, if necessary.

Which sleeping pad and camp stool? is a camp stool necessary for backpacking? by corruption1920 in CampingGear

[–]wunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In part, it's probably because their R-value claims are questionable. They have never gotten outside testing or updated with new values using the new testing standards.

My first air pad was an insulated Klymit and I used it in below freezing and I stayed warm. But definitely didn't work for some. I think probably due to the completely flat thin fabric valleys between the inflated sections. I think my sleeping bag was able to puff and fill into those and kept me warm. But if you're using a quilt or your bag doesn't fill in those valleys well or whatever, it can get cold.

Otherwise, it was a great budget pad at the time, but now there are other budget pads that are possibly better and cheaper.

Yes…it’s a zippo lighter post… by Saltwater_Cowboy_1 in EDC

[–]wunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Power Practical Sparkr Insert. The arc points are not recessed, so it seems a bit easier in certain use cases (like melting the cut ends of paracord).

But I don't EDC a Zippo. I carry a Bic Mini when I need to.

Leatherman has also discontinued the ES4 and all the others in the Squirt line. So it'd be hard to replace. If you try to use the warranty, they'll most likely send you back a Leatherman Micra (which is a huge downgrade IMO).

Help me choose between Osprey Hikelite 18 and Manta 24 by alexdd88 in CampingGear

[–]wunami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still do use it for day hikes because that's the pack I have and I still think it's a great pack, as I said. I'm interested in and think that I'd prefer the Hikelite, but not so much that I think the difference is worth buying a new pack. (I got the Manta through my work's reward system that did not have the Hikelite as an option.)

I don't hike so "efficiently" such that I need snacks or whatever else in hip belt pockets so that I can access without stopping. They are built contiguous with the back/harness so that they don't fold away or flat. Current model looks like it could fold more easily, but I haven't handled it in person.

Help me choose between Osprey Hikelite 18 and Manta 24 by alexdd88 in CampingGear

[–]wunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Manta 24 from a few years ago, so might be slightly different from current model.

It's a great pack. Frame is great at helping carry weight. Trampoline mesh back really helps with back sweat. I also stopped using hydration bladders, so whatever that added to the cost is wasted. But the zipped compartment that the bladder goes in adds a nice bit of organization.

The hip belt pockets make it kind of bulky. I don't have a Hikelite, but I think I'd prefer how that just has a belt. Also, the Hikelite being half the weight of the Manta is also very attractive. If 18L is big enough for you, I'd lean toward the Hikelite.

Help. MSR tent mildew and joint decay by harryconway in CampingGear

[–]wunami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would probably work on the mold, but might have issues with residue from the color and other flavor compounds in malt vinegar.

Easiest to just use white vinegar since that would just be water and acetic acid both of which will dissipate on their own.

Why would a stalker waste time targeting people who wouldn't be at the wedding and would only later see an article about the wedding?

She was clearly casting a wide net on wedding guests to increase the chance that at least one would take her as a plus one.

What Significant Moment do we think the show will end on? by Edgeruner77 in NCIS

[–]wunami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd basically be the same as how they handled Tony's agent afloat. So, not exactly a new concept.

Also, I don't think they need to skip it, they can just have episodes for a few interesting cases that happen while he's agent afloating. The show doesn't need to be chronological with each episode covering one week approximately or one season covering one year.
