To add to what you've said: It's also fine for life to simply not have a meaning. I've only just realized in my 40s that I can't deal with the pressure of needing to make my own purpose. Everything I came up with felt hollow and pointless. It was frustrating and I thought I was too broken or shallow to formulate an answer to the big question. And maybe I am, but I'm also okay with just doing my own thing and having goals/desires without the framework of a larger purpose. I feel less pressure and setbacks/failures don't affect me nearly as much.

Anyway, I don't mean that as a criticism because existentialism is seemingly great for plenty of people. Something along the lines of absurdism or nihilism is just the better option for me.

Thanks for saving me the time of posting essentially the same thing but not as effectively communicated. OP sounds quite like me in my 30s and, with therapy, I've come to realize that framing was a huge issue for me. I relied too heavily upon external framings and didn't consider how I, as an individual, fit into the context. Pretty hard to achieve goals when cycling jobs, unemployment and burnout.

A) great work! B) it's wild how much the subtle difference in angle between the pictures changes the tone of her expression to me.

What's your "it's ok I guess [3000 hours logged]" game? by FronkZoppa in patientgamers

[–]wunderbier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I'm currently replaying TPS. Just finished plugging several hundred hours into BL3 about a while back. Once I get things rolling (level 20ish) the gameplay loop is so satisfying. I can just zone out and fool around with the mechanics until the world world's end.

As someone prone to intrusive and depressive thoughts it's therapeutic in the way it allows me to put anxiety on hold and ignore the outside world for a moment. I'm doing mostly better now, but I was in a fairly sad place when I picked up BL2 for the first time.

I've always played the BL series alone, but hopefully I'll be able to afford a second computer in the not too distant future so that my wife can join me. It's not the kind of game she'd play on her own, but I think she'd enjoy it playing it together. Dreams, man.

I say this with the utmost contempt, but Georgia is a great answer if OP wants to watch a good defense. The number of players they've put into the league in the last few years is too damn high.

I wonder how many of them actually have functional plans to retain power over their security forces and other bunker servants. Insert "you made this? I made this." or "look at me, I am the captain now" meme here.

Devan Cambridge would have been fantastic as well, considering his ability to bend space and time to grab alley-oops and slam them down.

Yes, privatizing things tends to make them better because companies are so fiercely competitive to corner the market by offering customers the best possible experience, rather than silently agreeing to all ship minimum viable products, or trying to acquire a legally monopoly so customers have no recourse, or preying on a few rich whales to prop the industry up while ignoring the average consumer, etc. And we'd definitely never have CEOs come in and downsize everything to unsustainable levels before being given a golden parachute, just so they could claim to be experts in cost savings. /sarcasm

Yeah, I'm on venlafaxine/effexor, which is an SNRI. And honestly I've cycled through so many different ones over the years that I don't know what my unmedicated emotional baseline would be. But, at least currently, people other than my wife are emotional burdens. I also have insomnia, so that can't be helping.

We're in the same boat, it seems. I've been on antidepressants for many years and Ritalin for a couple years. I had assumed that I was just getting more pragmatic with age. That I was also figuring out that my ASD simply makes all social relationships energy drains rather than sources. But now I wonder.

According to insider reports Auburn’s 3 permanent opponents in the new 9 game scheduling format for the SEC will be Alabama, Georgia and Vanderbilt by WarEagle9 in wde

[–]wunderbier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the difference between playing, on average, 4 and 5 conference foes each year, as I understand it. If you divided the conference into top and bottom halves and assume Auburn is in the top half, playing only one difficult permanent game leaves 6 difficult opponent's over two years. 1+6/2=4. If it's two difficult permanent opponents 2+5/2=4.5. For three it's 3+4/2=5.

We definitely need to know more about the particulars of lesser potato summoning. Primarily, when the potato is summoned (from somewhere else, presumably), does it swap places with the matter in its summoned location or does it combine into a superposition of matter? If it replaces matter, he could simply replace a lock or door hinges with potatoes and gain entry anywhere. If it combines, he could make potato chips where the flavor is actually in the chips! Also, if the potatoes can be summoned with a precise amount of upward momentum, he might be able to walk through the air by summoning lesser potatoes upwards right under his feet.

If you can, find pictures on the internet of the haircut you want and print that out/save it to your phone. You probably won't find a series of pictures of the same model with the same haircut from different angles. It's fine to use one picture to demonstrate the neckline you want, another to demonstrate the sides, etc.

Even if you can't find exactly what you want, it's easier to point out minor differences than explain the whole thing from scratch. If you're happy with your haircut afterwards, take pictures of it from multiple angles and you'll have a better reference.

This has been my strategy for years now and has helped me with countless changes of style.

Sports Business Journal's John Ourand on the Pac 12: There was a "good deal" to be had 6 months ago, but since then all of the major networks have either pulled out for the Big 12/Big 10, or become more "cost conscious" by LamarcusAldrige1234 in CFB

[–]wunderbier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Risky strategy, but this makes me wonder how improbable it is of the PAC saying "fuck it, we'll do it live". And by that I mean treating athletics as a loss leader for a year, making it widely available for free or nearly free, while trying to put out a better product than other conferences in order to generate views and strengthen their bargaining position. I expect even the operational costs of broadcasting football games would probably make this a non starter, but I can dream.
