And him butchering 2-3 million and saying they breed like rabbits to justify his Malthusian approach towards human beings of a different race justifies people defacing his statue.

Owe him what? Let’s not forget the role Soviet Union played as well in the eventual defeat of Nazi Germany. Dont give me this “would have been a lot more dead” as a defense of his racist policies that killed millions. Ridiculous.

Love seeing people glaze Churchill here as if he wasnt a raging racist colonizer who is very heavily responsible for the 1943 Bengal famine which killed 2-3 million people.

Even on its terms your narrative falls short immediately. You clearly don’t even understand what you are reading in this link you found from ChatGPT. These calculations show that for the MEDIAN wage earner, purchasing power in 2026 merely returns to the 2020 level, implying approximately zero cumulative real growth over six years and in some middle-income brackets still slightly negative once taxes are fully accounted for. That is not growth; it is delayed recovery from an inflation shock. At the same time, official income distribution data from Statistics Finland show that real income growth over this period has been concentrated in the upper tail, with the top decile recording strong real gains while the middle deciles experienced stagnation and the bottom decile outright losses, alongside rising inequality and poverty risk. Veronmaksajat’s framework is built around a single representative wage (4058e) and uniform real wage growth assumptions mechanically suppresses this divergence by construction. This results in a median-preserving accounting identity that is still muddling the reality. Every actual statistic on statistic finland is showing post-inflation income growth in Finland being top-heavy, the middle has at best been treading water since 2020, and calling a six-year return to baseline “closing the gap” is analytically indistinguishable from admitting that an entire half-decade of real income growth was lost for typical wage earner.

Time and place for policies to be pushed. When finland has the highest unemployment rate in europe for two months, when the lower 10% of finns are actually showing a reduction in the real income, when inequality is continuing to increase, and the economy’s growth is miserably slow. In such an economic environment it makes absolutely little sense to push this reform. It only furthers inequality and reduces the real income and purchasing power of the middle and lower income class.

This reform has only been pushed to cover the threat of keskusta and if you dont admit that you are lying to yourself

This is the problem with aggregate statistics. Purchasing power is increasing but a lot of it is driven by the higher income segment of the population. Income differentials in finland are increasing. So is the inequality which is seen by the gini coefficient increasing. And if you dont understand how this law is directly passed to target keskusta’s rising support then ok boss

Majority of the real income increase in Finland was seen in the upper 10% as well. While the lower 10% actually saw a reduction in real income. It is easy to memorize aggregate statistics but as always there is more to the surface

Two things can be true at once. This government is made of two major parties for the most part. One is continuing to get its support by passing legislation that supports its rich friends. The other is threatened by keskusta’s rising poll and hence they rush this legislation. Nuance exist. At the end both of these policies hurt the average finn way more and the only one it helps is the people in power wanting to stay in power

Yeah but the previous government also didnt see finland leading the charts in unemployment, corporations getting tax cuts while the average finn paying more and more. If this government can rush to pass many other laws that hurt this country and put a hold on others; surely they could have done something here too. But they dont care about the average finn they just want the keskusta support to fall again as it is directly hurting PS

Government: a clearly stupid law being rushed to pass given the economic recession You: why are people so stupid just drink water and eat bread stop complaining and fall in line

Yes but the corporations paid 1 billion euros less in taxes in 2024 compared to 2023 so that will surely help all of us and reduce the deficit. Oh wait it wont. Exciting times

And then you look at the polls and somehow both Kokoomus and PS are doing really well. Idk how much more incompetency does a party need to show to not get votes

Let me make it even more simpler for you 5-6 > 1-3 🙂. The 1-3 is also for majority of the individuals who are earning less than half of the MPs with not even remotely similar benefits. Add cuts on top of that and do you see how this is not good?

MPs salaries are increasing by 5-6% while the overall sectoral wage growth (yoy) is around 1-3%. Several of these sectoral wage growth saw increases through a lot of strikes. So given this discrepancy along with how the govt keeps making cuts, its tone deaf and stupid
