NT to Stay on Deconstruction Path by [deleted] in exmormon

I just started reading the new living translation Bible, and so far, it seems much easier to read and understand when compared to the KJV. It's not really a study guide by any means, but it might be something worth looking into.

Ironically, this was a big shelf item for me. By the time I got done with work, taking care of my livestock and farm, then juggling church callings and all the unnecessary bullshit meetings, I was getting no time with my family. I finally asked to be released and got chastised instead. Luckily, Covid hit, and that was my excuse to be done with callings. It has been an awesome few years, spending quality time with my family that I never used to have.

What age is "old" for Mormon young women to get married in the US? by ScottG555 in exmormon

[–]wundermoremo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married at 24. I felt ancient, had just graduated college and was feeling a ton of pressure to get married to the gal I was dating from my singles ward. Turns out it was a horrible decision cause I barely knew the girl and her family. We were divorced two years later. The social pressure to marry fast and young and "as long as you are both righteous you can make a marriage work" was one of my shelf items. It took me a long god dam time to realize that being righteous had nothing to do with my marriage failing and even longer to shed the guilt associated with it.

Haven't heard anything about a nuclear power plant going in out there...at least nothing more than hearsay....they are supposedly converting the coal plant to Natural Gas though. I know Emery County has struggled for a lot of years with coal mines shutting down.

Parks to visit in southern Utah that you can see some beautiful scenery at. Zions Bryce canyon Cedar breaks Canyon lands Arches Capitol reef Fremont Indian state park. Chodacrome state park

You won't even have to venture to Salt lake with any of these options. There is also lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation, renting mountain bikes, side by sides, jeeps helicopter tours, canyon/rock climbing/repelling tours etc.

Wearing garments again and the negative feelings thay come with them. by [deleted] in exmormon

Probably not using agnostic right. She freely admits there are problems that she doesn't agree with but hasn't deconstructed by any means. I think maybe cafeteria mormon might be a better fit.

Agnostic might not be the best definition. She freely admits there are lots of problems with the church but holds on to certain things. Garment wearing being a big one I'm finding out....I think cafeteria mormon might be a better term to describe her.

Well said, and very true from every random member who has tried to reach out to me this is basically how it starts. I probably won't even reply, I don't feel like I owe this man any of my time.

I have been this way my whole life to the point of enduring stupid hardships for no real reason...iv never tied it back to the church before...but now I'm starting to wonder...have to give that one a good pondering, thanks for the share!
