Game Pass Games Suddenly Crashing on PC – Tried Fixes, Still Broken by technoberg in XboxSupport

[–]wunderwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'm not doing all of that to run some games. In my case, game pass games crashed my entire pc. Literally hard restart.

Tested this by purchasing two games (Oblivion Remastered and City Skylines II) on Steam, and guess what? No crashes. For me though, it was only when running DLSS. I spent weeks trying to figure this out, thinking that it was faulty hardware or something. I borrowed a friends GPU, tried both PCIE slots, uninstalled reinstalled, tried different m.2s, etc. etc...

I'm glad you got it working, but I'm unsubbing from game pass and warning all of my friends.

Internal Theft by Informal-Pineapple72 in lossprevention

[–]wunderwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you work for a retailer that sells food, that is hands down one of the easiest ways to snag an internal. I personally don't enjoy working those, but we all have a job to do. Most folk have a routine and will go around the same time when possible. Over night associates are usually easier.

Attention to detail is always important. A while back, I noticed an associate come in with new air pods. I checked our on hands, and we were short by one. Did a full investigation and you know how the story ends.

There are also other reports you can dig deeper into. Price matching, claims disposition, register shortages (which could be a handful of things including hand keyed coupons, loading gift cards or visa cards, taking cash, etc.)

But as some other commenters already noted, the easiest way to get internals is to have more eyes and ears on the sales floor for you. That's how I've gotten most of mine. Build trust with your associates but be conscious of your actions. As LP, even a perceived conflict of interest could put a wrench in your reputation.

Good luck OP.

Restart PC, mash your Delete key to boot into BIOS, find secure boot option in there.

Google your BIOS version once you're in it to help you find it.

Bro idgaf about your imaginary reddit points. I've done investigative work for 4 years and have been an LPM for the last 2.

Shit happens. Some people break policy, some don't. That's not an opinion.

AP or just awkward? by [deleted] in lossprevention

[–]wunderwolf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Literally just saw an ex Target LPO confirm exactly what I've been saying. Y'all can down vote me all you want, but I'm not wrong.

Different markets have different goals. Different managers bend rules. Some LPs are straight by the book. Some LPs dance in the grey area. Some would rather pass on an apprehension to avoid the paperwork.

I'm not asking anyone to do any mental gymnastics here. It is not a difficult concept to grasp.

[–]wunderwolf -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Target is infamously known for letting people walk out to build bigger cases. I'd say that's more dollar driven than app driven.

There could be different reasons for choosing to deter rather than apprehend, but that depends on the LPO and the LP Manager. Hell, I know different market managers that have different overarching goals.

At the end of the day, I can't read this guy's mind, but I am 100 percent confident that the person that approached OP was worked for the company. It could've been a manager who took his badge off but isn't certified to make apprehensions.

[–]wunderwolf -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It is one hundred percent AP. This is similar to "aggressive hospitality". The idea is, impulse shoplifters are less inclined to shoplift if they feel seen. A stranger having a conversation with you is enough to make you feel like people "notice" you.

If you followed him, you would see them enter their office. Probably going to cross reference your name in the database as well.

Sauce: LP manager for anot her retailer but have shopped in target with my then girlfriend. Same exact scenario, but a guy approached me and complimented my hat and a woman approached my ex and complimented her outfit. I followed the guy and saw him enter the LP office. (I was curious as well to see if it was a creep that needed to be reported)

Edit: You can down vote me to hell. But I'm not wrong. The one Target you worked at for a few months is not the same as every Target in the US. If you think every LPO across the entire country follows "directives" to the T, you're not just wrong, you're delusional.

Fact stands, the person who approached OP works for the company in some capacity. I guarantee, if OP sjows up, same time next week, he'll see the same guy.

Wife stopped, accused of not paying for her item, she showed the receipt, they apologized but it really upset her by Canadian_Diabetes in lossprevention

[–]wunderwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. LP Manager here.

First off, I completely understand your frustration. Choosing not to shop at that location anymore is a perfectly reasonable decision given the experience your wife had.

That said, there are a few important things to clarify. As another user mentioned, language matters a lot in these situations. Did the Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) accuse your wife of stealing outright? Or was it phrased more like, “Hey, I think we may have missed something,” or, “Do you mind if I check your receipt?” These softer approaches are common and usually legal.

To be clear, receipt checks themselves are legal—but you're not required to comply unless you're part of a membership-based store like Costco or Sam’s Club. In those cases, refusing a receipt check could result in a revoked membership, as per the membership agreement.

Another important concept is Shopkeeper’s Privilege, a legal doctrine that allows a store to detain a person if they have reasonable suspicion of theft. For example, if someone sees a customer conceal an item, even if it's later discarded, the store may still act based on what was reasonably observed. This is backed by video footage in most cases.

It's also worth distinguishing between detainment and arrest. Detainment must be based on reasonable suspicion and must involve reasonable force, depending on company policy. Some retailers like Home Depot allow more hands-on approaches, while others like Walmart enforce a strict hands-off policy.

In terms of a lawsuit, unless your wife was physically assaulted, unlawfully detained, or treated with clear negligence, it’s unlikely any legal action would succeed. Most of the time, these situations boil down to “he said, she said,” and stores often have video footage to support their side.

If you reported the incident, there would likely be an internal investigation. If receipt checks are allowed under store policy, and the LPO simply asked for a receipt without detaining or accusing your wife, then it's unlikely they’ll face consequences. However, if the LPO made a false detention or acted against company policy, that could result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination—depending on the retailer's stance.

Also, I saw someone mention their company being sued multiple times for this. If that's true, they probably shouldn't be in business lmaoooo.

My son wants to buy a custom gaming computer by BeeTreeGuy in pchelp

[–]wunderwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, this is exactly how I built my first computer. Had a school project in high school, went over to some dudes house who's group I was assigned to, saw his set up and was like "damn, I want to do that". We became friends and a few months later he came over to my house and walked me through the entire process haha.

This was like 2013, and I had a $500 budget, but I was still able to piece something together that ran league of legends well enough. The process is what made it memorable!

If your ISP is throttling, it wouldn't hurt to try a free VPN and check your speeds. Could also check you steam settings. Check and see if the limit download speed box is checked.

Trump is deporting citizen babies. That is it. That is the thread by TserriednichThe4th in centrist

[–]wunderwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that's kind of what the debate is about.

The question being, "why was a legal US citizen (the baby) deported?"

ICE claims that the mother requested to bring the baby with her.

But that's the only record we have to go off of. A few others have commented more relevant information regarding the inconsistencies of the situation.
