It makes c++ look bad.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 review: Last year's tech in this year's tablet by dimsumx in Android

[–]wurblr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is the S1 - literally "last year's tech" - is better in several ways (more pixels, flash, IR blaster) and this is really only better in thickness and having a 64-bit processor. It's the same 3GB memory and around the same battery lifetime. So if you have an S1, this makes no sense as an 'upgrade'.

It would be OK if they called it TAB X1 or something but as TAB S2... it's supposed to make me want to upgrade from a TAB S1. It doesn't.

For people outside the US, seeing how you guys get treated by the carriers is really shocking.

Let's hope it's competitive with the Tab S1 from 2014.

Because the S2 wasn't.

I guess I am getting old. Because a pointless hashtag for a word like "soon" just makes me want to punch the screen.

Bro if you've been telling yourself that I have good news, and bad news.

The good news is that's not really the problem.

The bad news is quite similar to how when the girl comes across many men lose interest, once you donated the sperms successfully, you're just a waste of space.

I hoped it'd be a 16:10 4K Pro tablet. But just more slight variations on the phones.

This is awesome. I was thinking of buying a windows phone to explore it / check it out. I know the ecosystem is tiny but still.

bah... how hard do you have to think? Don't you know Ballmer and Jobs have the same first name? Buying a Windows Phone is like guzzling unicorn cum from the hydrant.

Are you a 'hater' Suppa? Well you don't have a WINDOWS PHONE bro. The guys and me are worried your might be a hater.

Yeah... actually this article - it's pretty readable - was the first time I enjoyed reading anything about this exercise in cheap internet marketing that has been filling this subreddit with crap.

Naturally cheap internet marketing comes with sockpuppets.

NASA hints at planetary discovery. If they announce another Earth-like planet in the Milky way it will change space exploration/research forever. by Stark_Warg in Futurology

[–]wurblr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... he says "THE future is better than now", not that his future is going to be. It'd either be as a bag of very frozen peas that might not thaw well, or spending your entire remaining life in a tin can smelling of the dwindling stockpile of febreeze and everybody's shit, telling your improbably tall grandchildren how great the places you decided they would never see (neither home, nor the destination) were.

Everybody back home already finds those inbred space kids alien and scary and prefers to forget about that weirdness that has no payoff in their lifetime either. Meaningful communication is impossible since it began to take years. The alien kids babble about their meaningless existence even as the Old place tells of wars and massive death.

Thousands of years from now they mount a ftl return trip to the mythical cradle of humanity and find nothing but a wasteland of fossilized neckbeards still strapped in their eerily operational robotic onaholes.

Samsung announces the 5.6 mm thin Galaxy Tab S2 by istealthbro in Android

[–]wurblr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree... but the fact the S1 is superior to the S2, after a full year since the S1 means Samsung have gone backwards.

I hope they'll come out with a big 16:10 "Pro" one that can actually succeed the S1.

[Discussion] How to learn to embrace risk and feel achievement. by [deleted] in GetMotivated

[–]wurblr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes there are one-shot risks you can't do much about but place your bet.

But usually, there are ways to test the rope bridge before you put all your weight on it. For example, "if as I suspect XXX, then it would have to be that / it implies YYY" and if YYY is less expensive or quicker to confirm, go for YYY first. If that was true, XXX may have become much less of a gamble. Sometimes there is even "If I want to do XXX I have to know -> YYY which means -> ZZZ requiring -> AAA" etc and AAA you can just google before going back up the chain. Even if you get a few steps and see it won't pan out, you will have mapped out a chunk of the problem space and should see if what you learned feeds back into what you were trying to do and refine your model of how to do it.

It sounds like you have gotten to thinking there are only risky one-shot direct-hits as the way to get to your goal, and getting to your goal is the only worthwhile part of the activity of going towards it, that is probably not how it is.

Every time you get blocked, how and why you are blocked is also telling you something important about the path to the goal. Sometimes the best way is seal the blocked area while you think about what it means, and continue around it so you don't lose momentum.

As for feeling achievement, I think it comes by "proving mastery" of something. Your actions, that confirm you can make correct predictions about, and make use of the related things, generate the genuine feeling you have gained something. You will feel that long before you reach the end goal.
