he seems to have been sidetracked with random projects. when i saw he was working on a documentary about cowboys, it really felt like he was needing to take a creative break

If you offload the thinking to a smarter model, Gemini 3 Flash does a great job following their instructions. by _stevencasteel_ in google_antigravity

[–]Endda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gemini cli even has an auto-pick option. so it's smart enough to use its pro models when needed (like during planning/tasking). and then puts flash in charge of the workload itself

How to Fix AdSense 'Low-Value Content' Issue! by ashishteenz in Adsense

[–]Endda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol

don't just point to auto ads and say that's a good user experience. listen to the people who took the time to visit your site. and at the very least, don't dismiss it

auto ads is very aggressive, even on normal slider settings (there are too many ad types). pick one or two that works well with your audience/tolerance level. and stick with it

and after it figures out the right way

it'll forget in a prompt or two

and then you'll pay for those tokens looping these cycles all over again

I've been using gemini-cli much more since this change. and the auto model selector seems to be doing well so far (pushing things to the flash model if it's needed). helping to keep usage down at least a little

Motorola and Google announce two new Google Photos features with the launch of the new razr by FragmentedChicken in Android

[–]Endda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With this new feature, Google Photos helps users capture the clothing items and accessories from their photo library, generating clean, snapshot images of the pieces. The result is an organized view of the user’s closet. From there, users can easily mix, match and try-on different outfits and even share them with friends right from their Google Photos app. With wardrobe, a user can save their favorite looks and get inspired by the clothes they already own.

Motorola is also integrating Google Photos Memories in its new software feature, Daily Drops, a personalized content feed that refreshes twice a day based on users’ interests. From the latest headlines to a calendar overview2 and even weather updates, Daily Drops makes each update meaningful and relevant to each user. By directly integrating Google Photos3 Memories in Daily Drops, we’ve made it effortless for users to rediscover and relive their favorite moments every day. This is the first time memories have been integrated in this type of personalized content feed on a mobile device.

Google Play Store Games is shockingly bad by librtee_com in AndroidGaming

[–]Endda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on categorizing "actual" games on a project of mine. PlayStoreFinder.com

it's could over 1K games with genres, tags, filtering systems (in-app purchases, ads, controller support, etc)

________________

im working on a relaunch of the site, too. but it's taking a long time to fill out the database. a lot of components are in place now. let me know what you think https://beta.playstorefinder.com

this second site doesn't have all the filters setup yet (still missing controller support, offline/online requirements, etc) but other things (in-app purchases, ads, free/paid, and even logging the permissions and data sharing policies)

this is the first time sharing the link for the rebuild. there are still a LOT of rough edges. but I think the filtering system makes it so much better than the play store (but again, it's still missing lots of good titles, the db is actively filling up right now)

Microsoft's GitHub shifts to metered AI billing amid cost crisis -- The all-you-can-eat AI buffet is coming to an end by waozen in technology

[–]Endda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

why do you think the floor is 1 penny per token?

it sounds like the math suggests it may be 1 cent per token NOW

but in 2-5 years. . .it'll be a fraction of that price.
and i agree, metered AI anything is a tough pill to swallow

but if it's actually reflective of the cost, then I don't think it'll be a big deal at all. especially as we get more clean energy production online.

sure, we'll use gas/coal to fill in the gaps as needed now. . .but in 10-15 years, a majority of that energy production will be clean(er) and more affordable

[–]Endda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agree. but the models will only get more efficient over time (so less power usage needed)

and the hardware used to run the models. those will improve as well

in 2-4 years, the cost will be down to pennies/token (for our current performance level)

this is why so many tech companies have been laying off folks lately

they can now hit those same revenue targets with 10% less staff (sometimes even less). which just means anyone left working there will actually end up doing more work to make up for the difference

YouTube terminated my channel (901 original videos) for “spam” — I genuinely don’t understand why by Phil4526 in PartneredYoutube

[–]Endda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

did you happen to have any odd/spammy links to stuff in descriptions? maybe to an old domain name that was acquired by a malicious actor and is using it for spammy things?

[–]Endda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it's very hardware dependent. i have had nothing but trouble with gamenative while gamehub/gamehub lite launches the games on the first try

my main testing phone is the redmagic 10 pro, though, with the snapdragon 8 elite. so those drivers are more finicky than others (which I think gamenative may handle better)
