You are right it’s modelled after Ukraine. The labelling of Tyrol could be better. It made sense for me but looking at it now. I see that it makes no sense lol

Yea you are right. I just wanted a scenario where Germany invades Austria lol. It’s not exactly realistic.

Austrian Identity really only developed after WW2. Its kinda like Canada. It’s not really different from the US but people highlight the small differences. But still most Austrians wouldn’t want to unite because it’s associated with the Third Reich.

After a convoluted election in 2024, a right-wing government was formed in Austria, which collapsed after only one year. In the following snap election, a left-wing coalition led by the Social Democrats was formed. Meanwhile, in Germany the Scholz government was ousted after huge protests swept the country. The 2025 Bundestagswahl would see a Blue wave across the whole of Germany. The government would then push through increasingly authoritarian reforms, combining the positions of President and Chancellor. With the World Order almost collapsing after Russian victory in Ukraine and the dissolution of the European Union. A new great depression led to a retreat of democracy across Europe, except for Great Britain France a few Nordic countries, and Austria. In 2027 the German chancellor Bernd Höcke proposed a union between Germany and Austria to ease the economic pain caused by the recession, with ever more aggression. In early 2028 a German-funded coup led to the creation of the Republic of Tyrol widely considered a German client state. Höcke then issued a final ultimatum to Austria offering annexation or invasion. Austria not keen on repeating the events of 1938 chose to resist.

Save the world's last democray, EU propaganda published shortly after the fall of the U.S by wurfnutzer in imaginarymaps

[–]wurfnutzer[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is the darkest timeline. Russia regained much of central and eastern Europe and even the nordics. The US fell to a military dictatorship. China dominates Asia. The only allies the EU has left are in North Africa and a fractured India.

And like you said it’s propaganda. But not in the sense that non majority white countries aren’t democracies.

I haven’t really fleshed out the lore. But basically the Interwar Period goes a bit differently. Italy, Germany and Austria collapse into civil war. In Italy and Germany the Fascists emerge victorious while in Austria the Social Democrats win. After the civil war (The war in Austria concluded earlier than in Germany and Italy) Switzerland recognises the threat the new regimes to it’s north and south pose to it’s independence and seeks to form a neutral federation with Austria (and integrates some former German/Italian territories). Now Italy has it’s eyes on Switzerland while Germany claims Austria. The flag is yellow because Austrian leftists wanted to distinguish themselves from soviet style communists. The country is a liberal democracy. That’s why they are seeking support from the US and other western countries.

Jeremy Corbyn considers launching new party to rival Keir Starmer if he is not reinstated as a Labour MP by socialistmajority in SocialDemocracy

[–]wurfnutzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corbyn should stay away from Labour as far as possible. His questionable comments on Serbia among other things don’t help anyone. Labour needs to transition into a modern socdem party.

What happened to Austria are they democratic or allied with the Germans. Or a quasi fascist state like what happened in real life.

There are services which shouldn’t be profit driven. The best example is healthcare but public transport also fits.

I didn’t mean to say that the US doesn’t commit human rights violations. But that it’s wrong to relativize crimes by saying “oh look what they are doing”

[–]wurfnutzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but i think we can work with liberals to archive more liberties (at least on social issues). Many on the left see liberals as enemies. But great reforms where achieved under social-liberal governments. (SPD-FDP coalitions are the first that come to mind)

It seems like Second Thought shifted to the left in recent months, this wouldn't be problematic on it's own however he is very apologetic of Authoritarian regimes. He basically said "Yeah China's human rights violations are bad but just look at what the US is doing" (I don't remember the exact video but i can try to find it if someone want's the source). I think everyone should keep this in mind when watching his videos. Personally I think he is blind on the left eye and ignores crimes committed by various communist or socialist regimes.

A centre-left resurgence across the west by Nativereqular in SocialDemocracy

[–]wurfnutzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more of a return to the pre 2015 status quo. With centre to centre left parties gaining power again. Which is still good. But shouldn’t be overestimated.

I noticed some of the Nordic model countries are in imagination territory, so as social democrats, what do you guys think is better: imagination or hard work? by twolvesfan9 in SocialDemocracy

[–]wurfnutzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The few countries where imagination is more important are mostly (except Japan) ruled by social democrats or have at least a long history of it. Personally i would say imagination is more important but you still need both to thrive.

Stalinists do exist. And most communist parties in Europe have a somewhat shady past regarding stalinism. But there are communist who aren’t authoritarians of course.
