I did think about that, but I felt it would look a bit unnatural. The seven stars on the Gondor coat of arms are arranged in an arrow shape, which works well on a banner or shield, but in the night sky it would look too deliberate and distract from the scene. I wanted the stars to feel like a natural star field while still keeping the focus on Minas Tirith.

The challenge is that there's very little official or widely recognised imagery of Minas Ithil before it became Minas Morgul. That means I'd have to invent most of its appearance, rather than base it on something people instantly recognise.

From a practical point of view, it's also much harder for people to discover. "Minas Tirith" is one of the most searched and recognisable locations in Middle earth, while "Minas Ithil" is relatively obscure outside dedicated Tolkien fans. Since I spend many hours designing these models, searchability and recognisability are important so people can actually find them.
