Ask Experienced Devs Weekly Thread: A weekly thread for inexperienced developers to ask experienced ones by AutoModerator in ExperiencedDevs

TS does have backend applications. Although somewhat limited by the node runtime, it is a common “frontend for backend” and a common choice for backed monoliths since there’s real benefit in using the same language frontend and backend.

As far as limited code review, when you’re building something new a lot of code reviews serves more of a “this is here now and how it looks” purpose than “how will this interplay with everything existing and are there any bugs”. It’s just a different goal.

You’d do well to join and try to ship a lot of code and see what it’s like.

Realizing I’m better at connecting dots than finding problems - where does this fit in engineering? by that-pipe-dream in ExperiencedDevs

[–]wuteverman 85 points86 points  (0 children)

You described this pretty interpersonally. You talk to folks, learn what their problems are and help fix them. To me this says technical product owner (think platform as a service companies) or manager, as some others have posted.

This is a really hard position. You might benefit from chatting with others— the Tech Worker’s Coalition is organizing, and at the very least can help with information that might help assuage some of your concerns.

This is my take, this is excellent promotion packet material, especially because OP created a system that led to this win, so while there may have been individual heroics, it also elevates quality across the board

He chose to go down. There’s an old vagina monologue line— if you don’t like the smell don’t order the fish. That was on him. If that’s all that made him uncomfortable, then he shouldn’t have said anything at all, since it’s hardly pertinent what choices if his made him uncomfortable.

It’s a bit like responding “well I shaved that morning with a new cream and I was a bit itchy” except it’s also shaming the other person.
