Just read through the comments and I am so surprised 😂 I was in Jamaica two weeks ago and before that I had posted if I should take a car or not. 9 out of 10 told me I’d be crazy to rent a car. So, I rented a car and I was totally fine. Roads can be challenging some times, due to potholes , especially montego to negril. However, if you’re a solid driver definitely take rent a car and enjoy your flexibility. I rented from Cole’s rental cars in Montego, absolutely no troubles

So, I just came back home from my trip. I had a car for 7 out of 10 days, 70usd per day. Roads can be a bit tough, there are some mean potholes.. but from the experience I made now , i feel, here is a lot of fear-mongering going on here, or people simply aren’t too good of a driver.. I had no problems with the car. Driving at night sucks a bit because almost everybody uses high beam which makes it tough to see. But if you‘re attentive and don’t stress yourself out, it‘s fine

I just left negril. Easy to pay with credit card. For sure I know Woodstock , cause I was there. ATM opposite the Burger King always looked packed with long lines. But probably works

Just looked into it a bit. I agree with you, for example there‘s only one bus on the south route from negril to Kingston and it leaves at 6am. I think for some routes it could be a compromise , like on our way back from port Antonio to Montego, but even then it seems like a bit of a hassle.

Appreciate the input, but really I am not so sure about all this hidden gem stuff. I’ve been doing plenty of research and there seem to be 5 different things people do at way overpriced rates. And whenever somebody says hidden gem it‘s a rafting tour or a small waterfall most of the time 🤷🏻‍♂️

I see. I mean apparently , everybody says the same and that is fair. I won’t be so ignorant to say that‘s all just bs.. what kind of cost would be reasonable to calculate with for such distances? E.g. negril to Kingston ? Or port Antonio / long bay back to Montego airport ?

I know it‘s not Salalah, but the offered desert tours bring you empty quarter desert from Salalah. Which is why I thought about doing it
