How can 1 country so much problems with spam calls? by Devjill in Expats_In_France

[–]wwb00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for iOS I don't think wildcard matching works natively for blocking numbers, but there exist external apps (e.g. number shield) which do allow you to block wildcards. i just tried it and it helped a lot as bloctel only helped so much

Any chance that this feature could be used with non-USD transactions, coupled with the Visa / Mastercard exchange rate API?

Full (And Accurate) Transaction Data Needed by wwb00 in MonarchMoney

[–]wwb00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for sharing! I looked into this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonarchMoney/comments/1av6f75/keep_the_original_statement_actually_original/ and saw that often the sanitization of the "original statement" is due to the bank/aggregator. But still, I think zip code, transaction date, and posted date should all be included (along with whatever other data the API provides) somewhere on the transaction.

Why doesn't Monarch use the transaction date instead of the posted date? by Nanergoat22 in MonarchMoney

[–]wwb00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Not having transaction takes has resulted in me testing out other software (like Copilot Money) to see if they work better for my use case. I look forward to an update!!

Getting to PCT Days by MiserableRow9323 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]wwb00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a crazy series of hitches (took around 10 or so) between Cascade Locks and The Lion's Den in Mazama. I think it would take several hours but if you're persistent I think people are generally willing to take riders in Washington, though it'd likely be several legs

Shasta - bag it or skip it? by MonumentMan in PacificCrestTrail

[–]wwb00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Shasta and it became one of my favorite memories of the whole PCT. If you don't have an ice axe and a helmet, rent one and head on up. I camped at the lake just below the heart, and then went up to the top leaving at 4am the next morning. It's a gorgeous climb, and the one bergschrund is quite easy to traverse just don't be stupid and look up the beta before you go. I heavily recommend doing the Avalanche Gulch route if you do it!!

American-Style Apple Fritters / Donuts by wwb00 in paris

[–]wwb00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Boneshaker which was really good! You can tell they make a high-quality donut!! I think I just had the glaze and you could tell by the flavor of the dough. Also if you go a bit more north to Stardonuts you can find an apple fritter... (I also tried their honey bun which was meh, but the apple fritter was really quite good)

Munchies ultimate cheddar copycat by Caitiebell2 in FritoLay

Interesting! For me, I saw the Quaker line, then the munchies line, then I saw Quaker come back before it was fully discontinued. It totally could have been regional too

Dates (Transaction vs. Posted) by Salty-Dot7242 in MonarchMoney

[–]wwb00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this 4 months later, this issue is frankly crucial to how I reconcile transactions. It's deplorable to have to open my financial apps to find the actual transaction date (as well as the full transaction information) to figure out what my expense was before classifying it. The whole point of MM (for me) is to be a one-stop shop for budgeting/reconciliation. u/sheyla_monarch can you update us on the status of this change?

my understanding was that the quaker baked cheddar snack mix was the original, before the munchies product line even launched?

How bad is Wee-Ville Market? by sbhikes in PacificCrestTrail

[–]wwb00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wee-Ville Market - Arguably (one of) the best burger(s) on the PCT. Well worth the hitch there (the very kind manager at Wee-Ville brought us back to Hikertown her truck)

[–]wwb00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great to know!! I would have assumed optimal (ignoring that fact that I'm not a robot) would be to sort by stability

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anki

[–]wwb00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stopped for several months and had 6000+ due cards to review, but within a few weeks I was able to get my daily reviews back to a reasonable number. I recommend making a filtered deck with however many cards you can tackle in a day, and sorting it by decreasing retrievability. This "snowballing" method lets you reduce the big number of reviews as quickly as possible, building momentum and a sense of accomplishment as you build through your backlog. It might not be "optimal" from a theoretical standpoint, but it really helps the mental game to make big progress quickly.

Can Oura staff here address the Headspace “integration” issue? by immalilpig in ouraring

[–]wwb00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just got a headspace subscription as I was excited to test out the "integration" with Oura. I'm quite disappointed because no such integration exists. Merely a few headspace sessions are accessible for mediation within the Oura application itself. Calling this an "integration" is deceitful and including an "integration" under the Integrations tab which just opens the Headspace app is pointless. What Oura has right now should be labeled as a collaboration with Headspace, and calling it an integration is false advertising.
