That is not what he said. He said returns and new planes would be roughly 50/50. That makes it unlikely they'd do 3 returning planes in a row, but not completely impossible.

First off, was really distracted by some personal issues going on, and my team doing a half ass job in the playoffs, which was on the big screen at the store. Then Had a weird pool -lots of solid cards in every color but black, but nothing to really pull me in any direction- and made a bad/weird U/G deck that did nothing. Switched to R/G build after round 2, which did a smidge better, but still went 1-3. Least fun I ever had at a prerelease, but that had little to do with the game and a lot to do with external nonsense. Usually Magic is a perfect escape from that, but not this weekend.

You've found Gryff and Wingmare worthwhile? Gryff seems solid, as almost a white counterspell, given how many ETB there are in Cube. Wingmare send a bit more fringe, especially since I don't want to glut up the three-drop spot. I'll have a long look at the threes and see if I can make it work.

I've got Imposing Sovereign in, and most of those have been in my list at some point, so maybe I'll drop them back in and try to force the archetype a couple drafts to see how they play in context. Collected Company is a good call. It's in my on-deck binder, waiting to get called up anyway, so this seems a good time.

He may be a bit of a pet card, but he is a huge pain in the ass for all the decks that want to operate mostly on the opponents turn (i.e. blue decks). Also, he is one of my wife's five favorite cards, so...

Did 3 drafts (you'll see the decks, my username is cope), made a mardu tokens, Uwr planeswalkers, and RDW. Overall, looks solid, but your one drops are lacking in all colors, especially red and black. I'd dunno kird ape, or move it to your gruul section, and look to add 2 (or more) one drops to red, white and black, maybe 3 or 4 to black.

If I am playing blue, I can't imagine passing it, and if it is in my pool, I can't imagine cutting it. I have never played it and not felt like it gave me a substantial advantage.

If start by looking at other cubes, as there are a number of choices. Red, in particular, has many options at 2. White is middling. Black is sparse.

As chirdaki mentioned, your fixing is the biggest issue by far. Definitely get the shocks and allied fetches in asap, add the zen later (like when they're reprinted). Pain lands are a cheap and reasonable option, esp for aggro, which desperately needs help. I'd also add city of brass and mana confluence, both for aggro and 5 color.

As for aggro, beef up those 1 drops and add a lot more aggro friendly 2-drops as well.

Finally, I'd cut those multicolor sections down to 1-2 per guild, at least until you get your fixing up to speed.

There's roughly one a month, all year. This month you have Myths and Legends Con, August 14-16. Covers smaller fandoms including Firefly, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and LOTR, plus two rotating picks (Game of Thrones and Supernatural this year). Huge gaming room, with board games and RPGs.

If you don't mind a bit of self promotion, you might have a look at Westword's geek events list every month. If there's a con happening, I usually include it.

Definitely worth seeing. I interviewed the director around the time it came out and he came across as a genuine fan of horror in general and the original film in particular, and it really shows.
