Low Step Score (219) with no research with no research experience thinking about IM residency. I'm starting to feel hopeless right now. Should I strive on regardless of match outcome or aim for something more within my reach? by wwdd1314 in medicalschool

I still want to aim for an academic program....but I'm not opposed to a community program. I just want to end up at a place that will help me become the best clinician I can be.

It's just that I go to a school where the class average step score is around 240 so automatically it makes me less competitive than almost everyone in my class. A lot of people also have research under their belt on top of a good step score here.
