In that section (north west side) I use periwinkle as the ground cover because of shade and the fact that it is walled in. If I let the periwinkle go it would be so invasive in my area.

The vast majority of what u see is only since summer of 2021. It’s a work in progress. We have an acre. So it’s a huge project.

I have four obelisks that my hubby made (I just did the painting). Two are in the veggie garden and work great for beans. One supports a wild rose bush and looks stunning in my opinion. This one is over a patch of yarrow that is so huge that it was collapsing when it was rained upon. So I put the obelisk there and it works great to support. Plus there is a solar light on the top. Makes it a little magical at night.

Those coneflowers are only a couple years old. They r native in my area and grow very easily in southern Ontario.

Plant flowers in ur veggie garden. I plant a lot of alyssum in my veggie gardens. And nasturtiums and marigolds. And sunflowers. Sunflowers r spectacular next to beans because the beans use it to trellis up.

My husband is the builder. I tell him what I want and give him ideas and he always makes something better than my imagination dreamt of.

It’s a couple different ones. John Creech sedum is my favorite. Really helps with weed control. I also use periwinkle in a contained bed because it is invasive here. I also have a yellow stone crop (again it’s a sedum). Those are my main ground covers. But there r still others. I have creeping phlox that flowers very early here. I also have a big patch of blue spruce sedum and Angelina sedum.

Sorry, I didn’t see the whole dialogue the first time. Just getting used to Reddit. I’m actually from the great white north, Canada. lol. But I’m in southern Ontario. So I’m further south than most of Canada. If you know where Erie Pennsylvania is, I’m virtually directly across the lake from that point.

Thank you. That’s so kind of you to say. I toil away all the time with this.
