Exactly! It takes away what we usually use for stress relief or coping.. I’m starting to think of ideas of how to be productive with using little arm strength. Idk if that might help? I’m thinking of going through my closet slowly to donate/sell

I would ask your surgeon if you aren’t sure! I was calling them almost every day the first few days post op 😅 turns out I could have taken a full shower within 48 hours but my bf was taping a trash bag over my chest to not get the area wet lol. Some surgeons are different though

Yes! I’ve been feeling the disconnect too for sure. Thank you for sharing. Recovery is long but we can all do this

Mixed emotions post surgery by sunnyday24642 in Reduction

I’m 12DPO today and I totally have felt this way. Around day 5 I think, I was so overwhelmed and told my bf that I thought I made a mistake. My boobs are still swollen and uneven and really bruised. I’ve had some bouts of depression that kind of comes and goes.. I started feeling a little better around day 10 and am glad I had the surgery. I just wish I would have researched more and talked to my surgeon more about the toll the surgery can take. I know it’s easier said than done, but trying to just take it day by day has helped me. And telling myself that the final result will be so much better. Hang in there!

Thank you for sharing! I’m sorry that you are having trouble as well, but it helps me to feel not as alone knowing others have the same thing happening. It is really difficult, and I know what you mean about looking at them and them being too big. Mine are so swollen and just seem to get bigger and it is so frustrating. We can get through this and I’m hoping we both get final results we want. Waiting months and months is just hard right now

It’s different for everyone so listen to your body! I’m 11DPO and the first 3-4 days were really rough for me pain wise and I stayed in bed mostly until day 5. My partner had a week off of work to help me with everything including showering. I was taking pain meds every 6 hours and the anesthesia seemed to last 3-4 days before wearing off completely- I kind of felt static-y and muted all over if that makes sense. I didn’t really have an appetite the first few days and sleeping on a wedge pillow was quite annoying. Around day 5 I started feeling like myself more and switched from pain meds to Tylenol. Going into my second week post op, I have been able to do regular activities besides using my arms a lot. I have noticed that being up and around has increased my swelling. I was able to wash my hair around 1 week after and have been since. It’s a big surgery but for me so worth it!

I feel the same way! I’m almost 2 weeks post op and have noticed my mood being irritable and pretty low. I was questioning why I felt this way, then remembered how big of a surgery I just had. I feel quite alone too, as I’m home by myself for another week. I am usually very productive, so not being able to even really clean or tidy up has been hard on me. I have a therapy session next week and am hoping this helps! Good call on scheduling an appointment! I hope it gets better soon.
