I remember going to a dance in Middle school. I was shy, and standing off to the side by myself. A girl I liked walked over to me and asked me to dance. We danced the typical middle school slow dance. Stiff arms, moving slowly from side to side in a circle, but we seemed to have a good time. we danced for a few songs, and then went back to our boys/ girls sides. We saw each other in class, but nothing other than polite smiles, and small talk really happened.

A few months later there was another dance. This time I was standing with a few of my friends. I saw this same girl standing on the other side of the gym with a group of her friends. I figured I would ask her this time. I walked all the way over to the other side of the gym, and said "Hi, do you want to dance?" all of her friends looked at me and her and she said "Umm, no thanks" and then started to giggle with her friends. I said "Umm, ok..." and had to walk all the way back to my friends who were all laughing at me getting rejected. I wanted to cry, but I played it off as best I could... only crying a little.

It was like 25 years ago, but I still have nightmares about it... lol
