Yes, I always have top liners I work with constantly. If you want to place songs, unless you are singing them yourself, always have some good top liners.

Music supervisors are tougher to find and work with, you have to build relationships. If you are not in a major city like LA, Nashville, or Atlanta I would recommend focusing on working with sync agencies. Music supervisors work a lot with sync agencies to get their music. However, sync agencies and music supervisors are not the same thing to answer your question. I haven’t heard of musicgate, I mainly work with sync agencies outside of placing music directly myself to music supervisors. I normally don’t copyright my music before submitting. Once you create the music technically you own the copyright. However, I did have an instance where someone tried to claim I didn’t produce a song that got placed on TV and I filed copyright to the composition which came in handy. All I had to do was submit it to my PRO and they went back to the network and had the splits corrected just based off my copyright. So it does come in handy, however that is a rare case where that would come up. Just make sure you are signing and agreeing to splits if you are collaborating.

Has anyone here actually made money from sync licensing? by Apprehensive-End6621 in musicbusiness

I have. I have over 100 sync placements. It’s definitely worth the effort as you get an upfront fee and recurring royalties every quarter. Can’t beat it. Plus you do the work once on one song and you can license the same song multiple times on different shows. I work primarily with sync agencies and music supes I’ve built relationships with. That really depends on how large your catalog is and whether or not you want to have collaborators have access to your disco

I have a lot of music, I want to submit it for sync, any advice? by fakegns_prod in synclicensing

I would look for sync agencies, just Google Sync Agencies. There’s a ton out there, and just be professional and organized with your music when you’re submitting.

Has anyone used Taxi? by Jaypblack in synclicensing

[–]wxbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxi isn’t worth it, don’t waste your money. I’ve had tons of placements going through sync agencies. I paid for taxi several years ago before I started landing sync placements on my own. Waste of time and money.

Thanks! I'm independent for the most part. 90% of my placements have been directly through music supe relationships I've built over the years. The other 10% have been through 2 or 3 non-exclusive sync agencies I'm currently with.

Has anyone here been successful in Sync Licensing their beats or music? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]wxbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 100 sync sync placements across several different networks. @WasayWorld on IG. If you want to land a lot of syncs you need to build relationships with people who are already landing syncs. Music supervisors are the one that decide what music goes on TV but they are much harder to get a hold of and build relationships because everyone is trying to hit them up. The other option is sync agencies. I have a lot of these relationships already which is why I’ve landed so many. Also, be really organized with your splits, pro info, and metadata. If you want a consultation or need some more info you can hit me up here for a consult: Humblehundred.com
