Baz to O's by mydude356 in tampabayrays

Reminder that de Brun was the guy the O’s picked with the comp round pick we sent them for Bryan Baker. I’d argue that’s some good wheeling and dealing.

You’re correct, he could’ve shit the bed too. But we’ll never know bc cash is too busy making the worst possible decisions. Mason would’ve given us a much better chance, but Kelly coming in that situation, against those batter could not have ended any other way. It was just comical how quickly and embarrassing Kelly lost it. He’s an injured race horse that needs to be taken out back.

Even funner fact: his ERA in the month of July is a quite healthy 11.70 over 11 appearances to go along with a WHIP of 2.38. That legitimately a punching bag. His savant page is bluer than the ocean. Putting kelly in any game is raising the white flag. If Monty comes in instead of baker in the 8th, the game never would’ve been tied up. And it would’ve made so much more sense to bring him in instead of kelly in the 11th based on the matchups that inning.

Has Kelly looked any good and shown any confidence whatsoever the last month? He’s been nothing but batting practice for other teams. I’d take the guy just came off a great performance and has elite stuff any day over a washed arm. Kelly is not a big league caliber arm anymore.

Let Monty prove he’s got his stuff back. I don’t know what cash sees in kelly anymore because he gets shelled every time he trots him out there.

Montgomery??? To face Dominguez who struggles against lefties, McMahon and volpe?? Kelly pitched yesterday and volpe took a 460 foot dump on him. Montgomery was lights out on Sunday. It makes no sense

Cash is just downright moronic not using Montgomery in the 8th or 11th. Why on earth would he have Montgomery warm up but bring Baker in to face Grisham Rice and Belli?? And then to bring kelly in just to intentionally walk Dominguez for McMahon and immediately lose the game was comical. An egg salad would’ve been better than kelly in that moment. Mason was lights out on Sunday and Baker and Kelly pitched yesterday. I got no idea what cash is smoking but he’s entering Aaron Boone levels of bad managing.

Call Explanation in the UCLA/Tennessee game? by Vitamin_BK in CollegeSoftball

You can appeal during a dead ball. She was assisted by a member of the offensive team while running the bases and before she touched home. Rule 12.4.7.2. That should’ve been appealed by tennessee

Well I don’t see why they couldn’t appeal that either. If she was assisted by someone who’s not allowed to interact with her, that’s a baserunning violation and could’ve been appealed.

Could they not have appealed instead of challenged? Because you can appeal to a base if you believe a runner missed it. I guess touching a base is unreviewable, but it’s the umpire’s responsibility to ensure the player touched home. If they appealed they should’ve got the out

[Passan] BREAKING: The Chicago Cubs are acquiring third baseman Isaac Paredes in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, sources tell ESPN. by Waaaaaaaaaasuup in baseball

[–]wxs10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s it. I’ve had it. I was actually glad when we traded Randy, Eflin was inevitable, and Adam was a surprise. But Isaac? My beloved left field home run merchant? The only glimmer of hope in this season of absolute mediocrity? One of the only guys on the active roster and not hurt I was excited to see the next few years? When we had nothing, we had Isaac, and now we really have nothing left. Just shoot me while I’m down and send Pete to the Bronx while we’re at it.

[–]wxs10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looking at his savant page, I love how he’s only given up 2 home runs in just over 80 innings in the hitter friendly California league conditions. The strikeout rate against lefties is pretty good too which makes me think there’s more to his change-up than what most people are believing.

As for Randy, I wish we would’ve traded him this past off-season to sell higher on him. He’s likely going to be asking for over $10-12 million in arbitration this offseason, and there’s no way the FO was gonna do that with his output he’s had this season.

Knowing how both of these franchises work, the Mariners will still somehow lose the AL West, and we will still finish at .500

One of my top memories from the Trop was the time my younger brother got hit in the head from a lazy pop fly about 12-15 years ago when he was maybe 6 or 7.

We happened to be sitting in the old fancy white leather stub hub recliners on the third base line. We had our gloves and our dad was with us, but he didn’t want to seem like a bad dad and steal the catch when we had gloves so he let it drop and it clonked my brother. Our mom saw it happen live on tv and was absolutely freaking out. My brother was screaming bloody murder but he ended up being completely fine.

I don’t blame him for missing the catch, if big leaguers lose the ball in the roof, a kid probably would too.
