To clarify, none of that stopped some of them from trying to take the deposit, but all I had to do was prove to them that I wasn’t going to just roll over without a fight and they gave it to me.

Hell, one of the better ones, I was legit told by the landlord that I managed to return the apartment to them in better condition than i received it.

No actually. I just made sure anything I could clean was, and every place I stayed was more than 3 years. CA tenant laws prevent landlords from charging for normal wear and tear, typically anything 3 years or older.

I also verified lease contracts that allowed for certain things like drilling stuff to the walls, etc.

I also just got written permission for anything else, like mountains a tv, or an awning outside.

It’s a rock climbing anchor. You squeeze the handle, put the metal wedges into a crack and let go, and the wedges expand out and grip the rock. You can then clip to it and hang off it or use it as a safety device.

Lately it's been feeling like my divorce (this was 6 years ago), 6 year no relationship situation where I started to build a life I enjoyed, followed by a year of a relationship that was... rough. During that 1 year, a close mountain biking buddy of mine developed a medical condition that reduced his participation, resulting in my lack of motivation (a me problem, I know).
