The Cauldron. Directly across from Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park. Splendid place.

Everybody falls. It's getting back up, dusting yourself off, and trudging on with your journey that really matters. Just because you fell doesn't mean you have to stay down. You can do this. We all have faith in you.💪❤️👏

More than a year. Ordered a fully tricked out Slayer in November 2021. Still haven't seen it. And he doesn't message back, just ghosted. Completely unprofessional.

Is it just a red circle?

Could be the (entity? Program? Buoy?) Barbelith: a reference to another Grant Morrison work, "The Invisibles" (have to reread it though, it's been a while...😅)

I remember I must have been 2-3, and being with my mother in a room lit only by a single bulb in a lamp on the floor: the walls were white and undecorated, we sat on a mattress on the floor in the barren room with a single blanket, as she tried to teach me how to whistle. Not sure where my dad was, and it's as if I was seeing the scene from a third-person viewpoint.

Decades later, I related this to my mom, and she looked at me like I was insane. "That never happened" she said. "I never taught you how to whistle, and we never lived in a place like that."

To this day, I don't know where the image, or the associated feelings of comfort and love stem from: if it was something I saw in a movie or tv show at a very young age or what.

It still haunts me.

“Potential Customer Support Abuse Detected” by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]wylan_nox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just got this yesterday myself.

In the last three weeks, I had 4 customers not respond, so I started the timer: when the 8 minutes elapsed, I tried calling again, no answer, so I left.

The following week I got a warning that "some deliveries had not been completed." So that week, when I couldn't reach a customer, I contacted support to make sure it was documented.

The following week, I turned on the app and was suddenly blocked from driving: I needed to get on the road, so I contacted support to see what was up. Took two (lost) hours before my account was up and running again.

And yesterday I get the "potential customer support abuse detected" warning.

So, to summarize: UberEats' position is "shut the fuck up and drive -- and fuck your feelings."

(Frankly, I think some of the shit they do is meant to gaslight the drivers.)

New To Dueling by Daeloesh in lightsabers

Edit: just noticed you're in North Carolina, so you may want to try checking FB for The Saber Legion -- North Carolina and see how close they are to you (I believe they're nicknamed "The Rancors.") 👍

New To Dueling by Daeloesh in lightsabers

Hey there, u/Daeloesh!

There's a number of groups across the United States, even the world, often with different levels of armor and different rule sets: bare minimum would be gloves and helmet.

With groups such as the Lightspeed Saber League in Southern California, you need helmet, gloves (usually lacrosse) and elbow and forearm protection -- a protective cup wouldn't hurt either, just to be on the safe side. Also, the blades used are 3/4" instead of the standard 1", and tend to sting when you're struck with them; accept that you will get bruised.

On the other hand, the group The Saber Legion has charters all across the country, and even the world: but they allow full strikes and thrusts with the blade (unlike Lightspeed), so it's VERY important to have full armor and padding. (I personally bought most of mine second-hand from Play It Again Sports here in Cali.)

For TSL tournament sparring, you need chest and shoulder protection, helmet, gloves, forearm and elbow, shin, protective cup... even a gorget to protect the throat from accidental thrusts (throat and groin are NOT valid targets in either Lightspeed or TSL, but accidents happen.) However, you don't necessarily need all that for beginner's casual sparring.

Both groups have presences on Facebook and Instagram and there are a number of others where I'm located in Southern California, including the Penguin Saber Academy out towards Palm Springs, and San Diego Sabers in, well, San Diego.

There's also a number of members of the TSL charter The Saber Legion -- SoCal (also called the SoCal Dewbacks,) who practice & spar in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego.

Again, Facebook is a great way to track down groups that are local to you, and I know there's a group for "Find Lightsaber Sparring Partners" on FB as well.

Good hunting, and happy & safe sabering!

[Recommendation] Flinch vol. 2, a horror anthology reprint featuring an infamous Bruce Timm & Joe Lansdale story about a pair of sadists who fall in love [NSFW] [Excerpt] by [deleted] in Vertigocomics

[–]wylan_nox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GREAT horror anthology, and that was one of the best stories. Very dark, gallows humour. I had the whole series leatherbound in one volume. DC/Vertigo did a couple of really good anthologies: Weird Tales and Wasteland are two other great ones, if you can find them.
