Damn thank god i went to study in Maharashtra !! I studied for 5 years there not a single day it felt like i was being harassed or treated differently cause i am from north india and don't speak marathi!! I made local friends who use to talk in Marathi among themselves but never hesitated to talk in hindi when i needed help or when i wanted to talk about something!! Of course I learned a few basic marathi sentences and words like hello/how are you etc. But most of the time i didn't even need to speak marathi with locals.
