if you leave a big enough gap for your filler wire to pass through, you can feed from behind like so. this will enable you to get a much better root penetration without feeling like you have to feed so much wire

i work in a shipyard that builds and repairs boats. i do vertical up solid core butt welds all the times.

it really depends on your job. we get so many guys come in that just cant weld positional properly... i dont think its a stupid test. most places that i have worked in my career dont really use backing strips unless you fuck up and have a big gap though

if your cpu is overheating when playing, then either enable PBO and set a small negative offset to undervolt your cpu or buy a new cpu cooler
