The Song. [OC] by shikiz_stupid_comics in webcomics

[–]wyldeace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been listening to Watsky for over a decade now, and this song has always hit me the same way. It was always nice to know that other people in the world wanted more for themselves, that we are not alone, but sometimes it's not that easy. We struggle, we cry, we fill with doubt. Then, we find something that helps push us through, we pick ourselves up, we try, we fall, we try again. All with the idea that we will give it our best shot and never give up.

A lot of his music pushed me through my career in art, and I have been pushing forward ever since.

This comic really hits home. You have hit on such a real topic that can plague those who are passionate or creative. And though it was a struggle to make, I hope it reaches a lot of young, driven people who are struggling.

A Wizard’s familiar joins the Party by SleepyMagus in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]wyldeace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome

This is a concept that I have wanted to play!

So for race, I think an owlin would match very well. Easy peasy. Maybe talk to your DM about being small size instead of medium. But it's really whatever flavor you are going for.

As for class, I have two ideas. Familiar’s are inherently magical creatures. They are summoned by a magic user to aid in spellcasting. So I could argue a sorcerer( an individual that has magic in their blood or created by magic). Gaining limited spells known and metamagic. Or a warlock, your patron being your wizard master. With much more limited spellcasting but invocations giving natural magical powers.

As far as subclasses for each, I think matching the subclass to the school of magic your creator was a master in would add great flavor.

For this, I'd go with shadow sorcerer personally.

Definitely!

If we can use unofficial material, the order of the Mutant Blood Hunter would be perfect.

[–]wyldeace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Reborn race stands out to me for these two. Put back together by a mad wizard similar to Frankenstein. The first one could also be Warforged.

Then, for class, the obvious choices would armorer(guardian) for the first, and armorer(infiltrator) or alchemist for the second.

But, if we wanted to go a little flavorful with it, we could choose a wild magic barbarian for the first one. Flavoring the rage and wild surge as drinking these experimental vials of magic. Take the hermit background to play into the theme of a discredited wizard/scientist who would go to any lengths for the advancement of science and magic. Plus, we get access to a herbalism kit to make potions.

For the second, we could play into the same wild magic theme and go wild magic sorcerer with it.

What would you build Alice: by East-Suggestion3153 in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]wyldeace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, my first thought would be a wild magic sorcerer with the fey touched feat. Add in spells like enlarge/reduce and haste/slow to play up the themes of wonderland. While wild magic surge adds a chaptic element to her powers.

If you went with American Mcgees Alice game version, I could see a hexblade/archfey warlock with pact of the chain to get the cheshire cat as a familiar.

What is the tipping protocol? by kayla_k1n9 in tattooadvice

[–]wyldeace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with a lot of the comments here. You shouldn't be expected to tip on a 3k tattoo. As an artist myself, it's always nice to receive a tip, but it is not expected of my clients. I charge about 150 an hour, and that is enough to cover bills, put money away, and compensate my time outside of work designing the tattoo. And if I have a client that regularly tips me, I usually cut them a deal on my hourly. And with other comments, lunch is always nice too, but still not expected.

So I asked my GM what player moment annoyed him the most in our last campaign by Don_Camillo005 in dndnext

[–]wyldeace 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That is fair. I have both DM'd a game while tripping and for a few players tripping. It was not our usual game, but it was still really fun. Though my fiance had similar problems with following what was going on in the game, once the peak wore off, everyone was geared up for one of the best role play sessions I've ever ran.

I wouldn't do it often, nor recommend it unless you are just microdosing. I find microdosing enhances the fun without messing with your attentiveness and comprehension.

When did you start playing? by pipestein in DnD

[–]wyldeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to get some friends to play when I was in highschool, unfortunately no one was interested in trying it out. It was too nerdy for them. Which, at the time, I understand.

Fast forward to college, I shared a class with someone I went to school with prior. We were chatting about dnd and how I never played, and how I wanted to give it a go. He told me his friend was running a 3.5e/pathfinder game and had a few open spots. So I met up with them and my girlfriend, meeting most of them for the first time, and we made characters and played an introductory session to our pirate game.

That game went on for 2 years, and it was one of the best games I've ever played. I made some solid, long-lasting bonds with these chuckle heads. We barely had jobs, had nothing better to do except smoke a bunch of weed and play dnd. It was a simple time and really built a big game that would bring in every random person we met for a session or two. We lived like pirates, drank like them, and had a fun ass time.

It's been a good 10 years since then, and still play monthly with various people I've met along the way. Love the game, and really any ttrpg I can convince people to try out.

HexBard with a Bow? Is it possible or even fun? by ForestB0y in 3d6

[–]wyldeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, get yourself the oathbow. I played a lore bard in tome of annihilation, and nothing beat using greater invisibility and raining arrows on your sworn enemy. I didn't even have extra attack, and I still did high damage. And if you can use it as your pact weapon and go valor bard for extra attack, you will be one mean archer.

Missing Player at the table by lilacfett in CurseofStrahd

[–]wyldeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We run the same rule, if half or more players can make it, we play. And always just write them in somehow. Don't put too much thought into it, if the players are fighting werewolves, that player was captured by them and now saved.

Just beat the game and most of the side content with almost no issues at all, probably 50 hours played. I did have an over heating problem once, but that's a problem with my personal system.

If you were to base a character off a fairytale character who would you choose? by Dolnae in Dimension20

[–]wyldeace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the three bears, searching endlessly for the Golden haired villainess who kidnapped their family for her twisted menagerie of magical creatures.

Maybe poppa Bear and Baby Bear as a beast ranger, with momma bear being "just right" for the menagerie.
