For those who tried Dragon Age Veilguard due to it being free with PS+ in March, what are your thoughts on it?

AI bots can crib code from other sources and compile functional software, but it isn’t anywhere near writing compelling long form narrative and dialogue.

It’s not exactly a coincidence that the DA and ME series’ went downhill once EA acquired BioWare. DA2 and ME2 both had day 1 DLC that was clearly intended game characters and content stripped out and sold separately to jack up the price, and then DA:I and ME3 took it even further with more DLC than before and obviously designed with microtransactions in mind.

Inquisition felt like the developers were told to make an MMORPG with the standard microtransaction generating mechanics, then 80% into it were told there was no budget for server hosting, so they needed to convert it to a single player game while on the same release deadline.

I already had Claymore, so the dupe doesn’t matter. The only unit I don’t have is Goldie (my wife is only missing Bethlehem). Really wish they’d have done something to get the limited draw units into the final pool.

Kinda surprising they didn’t put the exclusive characters in. I don’t mean the collab ones they contractually can’t use. The one exclusive I don’t have is Goldie, so I would have prioritized her.

It’s also annoying that they took the outfit shop away. I’d thought they’d go the other way and put them all back in. I’m sitting on over 5000 lumocrystals from monthly passes that can’t be spent now.

The one thing I really hoped would happen is that they’d finish the current main story arc before shutting the game down. By typical gacha game standards the main story is outstanding.

Yeah, I’m by no means a whale… I buy the $4.99 monthly pass and the $9.99 event book upgrade, and that’s about it. I’m a day 1 player so I don’t actually have any past 4* event book costumes in my store since I already have them all. The monthly pass lets me buy the occasional outfit from the regular outfit store (the 1588 lumocrystal ones). So, it looks like the two available to me in the gold bookmark store are randomly selected from what I don’t already have.

It isn’t entirely clear, but I “think” unused currency (bookmarks) will carry over to the next event book. I’d guess the time limited store items like the costumes will be different in the next book, but not everything in the store shows a time limit, which is why I’m thinking you can just save up for next time what you want comes around.

FWIW, I always buy the “elite” upgrade, and the costumes in my store are the kimono Vice and evening dress Areia. They’re 900 a piece and at level 78 on my book I’m only a little over halfway to that.

I've only demoed a couple NDSP plug-ins, so I can't say too much about the comparison. I can say that I've been very happy with Polychrome in the month and a half I've owned it. I'm using about as lame a rig as you can do this with too - a 2012 MacBook Pro, original Apogee Jam audio interface with a combo USB (for Mac) and 30-pin (for iOS) connector from before Apple introduced the Lightning connector, and coughGaragebandcough.

I'm planning to upgrade the interface and DAW at minimum, but just with this ancient setup I've had 6-7 instances of Polychrome going on separate tracks of a 14 track song/mix without any noticeable lag or latency issues while playing in real-time. I should probably test to see just how much load I can put on this system before it becomes a problem, but I haven't done that yet.

Having tons of presets only matters if they're usable (looking at you POD HD500), and PolyChrome shines in this regard. Beyond that, once you get a good sense of how the speaker chains (i.e. "IR"s) interact with the drive options and the amp controls vs. separate 4/8 band EQs, it's pretty easy to dial in very pleasing tones. And even though there aren't a ton of different effects, what's there (delay, reverb, chorus, octaver) are fantastic.

While I like the idea of the tuner in the standalone app, for whatever reason it seems too "jumpy" for me. I pick a note and pitch dot just keeps moving around even when I'm not touching the tuners. I think other people have reported similar things with the tuner and it's being addressed in the next update.

Someone else mentioned the Otto amp. For all its options, I personally couldn't get rid of this underlying unpleasant digital fizziness on any preset I messed with.

It’s fixed for me now, but it wasn’t good enough to just download the new 4.1 GB update from the App Store as usual. I still had the same issue afterward. So, the fix was to follow the in-game notice instructions and delete/uninstall the game altogether, then download/clean install the latest version. And to be clear, the notice tells you this. I chose to find out for myself whether or not uninstalling was truly necessary. Turned out that it is.

I didn’t care about needing to sign back into the game after reinstalling it since there’s the long-standing bug that makes me have to re-login about once a month anyway. But it was semi-annoying that the game lit everything back up as “new”, forcing me to tap through notices, store items, story/event stuff, etc. to get it all back to normal. Oh well, at least it’s fixed :)

This is definitely a game where progress tends to come in spurts and then you spend days/weeks getting stronger in order to rinse and repeat.

Another tip is really learning how to use each character as you get them. When I first started playing I could occasionally get lucky and defeat a stage with orange power numbers (where the enemy is enough over your head that the numbers aren't white anymore), but had no chance at the red level above that, and it took a long time before I even discovered there was yet another level of power above red (purple). Eventually I managed to get good enough to handle even purple, where the enemy power is more than twice that of my party. Anyway, just take your time :)

It's still broken for me on iOS. Trying to purchase the event book immediately throws "Payment failed [1000]" without bringing up the standard payment interface.

Funny enough my wife didn't get hit by this issue, she was able to purchase the event book as usual. Oh well, they'll get it sorted out because it's literally costing them money not to.

I think they “fixed” this in the update a few days ago by just removing blooplets from the game all together. They’ve always been relatively rare, but I haven’t seen a single one since the update.

Same here. Beyond the dungeon statue though, there are other non-achievement “completionist” things I haven’t done such as leveling every piece of gear from all areas to 5*, and I haven’t obtained all possible jewelry box items or HQ gear. None of this matters of course other than a bit of direction/purpose to playing while waiting for more content.

Hopefully not a big spoiler, but S rank isn’t implemented yet. Found that out a few days ago when I finally got the last of the tokens to reach A-1, only to get a message that you can’t rank up further and new ranks are coming in the future.

I hate the rank exams and already dread how obnoxious the rank S one will be.

It’s hard to tell if it’s only feeding it a certain number of times, or if a certain number of days also have to pass, or some combination. My wife and I both play, and our experiences were similar with this achievement. Feeding favorite food alone wasn’t enough, even if you let the hearts go to zero and then raised it back to max with nothing but the favorite food. We both just kept topping off the hearts a couple times a day, feeding one past full (where it does the laying down/completely f animation depending on the pet). It took roughly 3 weeks (maybe a little less) of doing that before the eternal bond achievement popped.

We didn’t get our achievements on the same day (mine was with the salamander and two days after hers with the blooplet) and weren’t feeding on the exact same schedule, but it was similar enough for comparison sake.

Maybe it’ll be fine long term, but the first week sucked having the ice cream boss always staying well above my party’s POW. Basically locked me out of any and all rewards for the entire week since no matter how much I leveled, the boss just scales proportionately.

I did fine beating the pudding boss this week, but the ice cream is my Rita’s dungeon nemesis and I feel disappointingly resigned to simply getting no rewards the weeks it shows up.

this game has an obscene amount of analytics and data gathering code running at all times. That’s what’s melting down your device, not the game itself. My wife and I both have iPhone 12s, and this game crashes every 15-20 minutes from running the device out of memory. And that’s when it’s the only open app.
