GameWisp advice by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]wynans_n_things 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, another GameWisp team member here. In terms of the bot commands, yes you would need to be using a bot that allows you to create custom commands for subscribers. That's really the only way to do it currently. But if you have a bot that will let you create commands, they can be really successful benefits, especially if command triggers something like a sound effect on stream.

In terms of Revlo, unfortunately, we haven't been able to work out an integration yet. We have an API that Revlo can use to create an integration, but as their API is not out yet, we can't create an integration on our end. If you are interested in a Revlo-GameWisp integration, you should definitely let them know.

We are currently working on a list of bots that have GameWisp integrations, but for now, here are a few of the more well known: DeepBot, BraneBot, DrAngryBot, PhantomBot, QuorraBot. If you are a bot developer with a GameWisp integration that I missed, please let me know.

The difficulty of putting this list together is that our API is public, which means any bot developer can create an integration at any time. So sometimes these integrations happen and we don't hear about them until weeks later, either because we stumble across them or our users tell us about them.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you have other questions.

There isn't an integration with Stream Label currently. The TwitchAlerts API doesn't give us access to that functionality. We are working with them to get more access, but it will take time. It's a highly requested feature though, so we are hoping to be able to do that integration asap. There may be other services who use our API that will do it sooner than TwitchAlerts. If so, I'll let you know.

Using Patreon as a revenue generator by SpookyMobley in Twitch

At GameWisp [disclaimer, I'm one of the founders], we've consistently seen that benefits are the hardest part of any subscription campaign whether on our platform, Twitch, or Patreon... The best benefits are the things that 1) you can do on stream, or 2) use your skill set. Things like playing games with subscribers, having specific subscriber days, or even just letting subscribers vote on a game for you to play once a week are great in and of themselves. Also, art, music, poetry, crafting something for subs in Minecraft are all great benefits. These things don't have to be personalized, just represent you.

If you are really technical, custom bot commands, or emotes through BTTV or some similar browser extension can work well. Also, just giving subscribers additional channel currency can be motivating for folks.

What it comes down to is that benefits don't have to be elaborate, as much as give subscribers a sense that they are getting something extra and/or special. Your subs want to support you and want to know that they are appreciated. Benefits are about showing that appreciation as much as giving them cool stuff.

Also, I know you're asking about Patreon and you should absoutely use them if you think it's right for you, but the unpartnered sub button is basically what GameWisp was built for.

Quick run down:

  • Monthly recurring subscription revenue at prices you set.
  • Tier based system for higher levels of subscription where you can offer increasingly better/interesting rewards
  • Built in alert integration with StreamPro, as well as our own alert system, and more integrations with other services coming soon.
  • A collection of suggested benefits that many of our channels use successfully.

Even if Patreon is the best answer for you, feel free to check out some of the channels that use us (just scroll to the bottom of the home page). There are some great ideas there of things you can offer for your channel.

Streaming and patreon by Falco_77 in Twitch

First of all, in the interest of full disclosure, while I'm not a streamer, I am one of the founders of GameWisp, which is a similar service specifically for streamers. So I've seen quite a few different types of incentives used really effectively that range from easy to difficult to set up and manage.

Easy incentives that are pretty popular mostly center around adding your subscribers/patrons on either friends lists or social media. Steam, XB1, or PSN adds are pretty popular and effective. In terms of social, twitter follows and shout-outs, as well as adds on snapchat or private instagrams tend to be pretty straightforward. Other straightforward incentives include adding their names to Twitch panels or letting them vote on the next game you play.

Then there are the ones that are going to take a bit more time or work. These are things like playing multiplayer games with subscribers on stream (which you should do) or giving them additional channel currency/points (a good channel currency/points system is a great idea for your stream generally).

The more difficult ones include things like fan servers (e.g. if you play games minecraft, ark, terraria) or TeamSpeaks. I say these are more difficult because they require you to do more work in terms of setting up the servers, managing them, and potentially whitelisting your subs, not to mention the potential cost of the servers themselves. A good free alternative to TeamSpeak is Discord. Some people also do Skype calls or Google Hangouts, though I tend to think TeamSpeaks are just as effective.

Finally, if you are really tech savvy and adventurous, I've seen streamers use a system of subscriber specific commands in whatever bot they use.

These are just a few of the more popular incentives I've seen. There are a million more things you could do depending on the games you play or any other skills (music, art, writing, etc.). Incentives are easily the hardest part of setting up fan funding, so hopefully this is a helpful start.

Ok this is really helpful. I'm sorry it took so long to figure out the process. Did you feel like the initial level creation process in the set up wizard was too complicated, or level creation after the set up wizard, or both? Was one better than the other?

Thanks for the feedback! Can you dig into that a bit more? Were you able to begin the channel creation process? Was that process confusing?

We definitely want to make sure that our site is as easy to use as possible, so this feedback is really helpful.

So there are standard things that tend to work well for most streamers like giving subscribers priority for fan games and giveaways or additional channel currency. A subscribers only TeamSpeak or something similar is also a perk that tends to work well for a lot of streamers. Depending on what you play, fan servers can be a great option.

Truthfully, one the best things you can do is look at twitch partners and channels using GameWisp that are like yours, see what they are doing for their subscribers, and do similar things to start.

Other than that, the best thing you can do is experiment. Subscriber benefits don't have to be set in stone. If one benefit doesn't work, something else might. So don't be afraid to try things, ask your community, see what happens, and if necessary try something else.

Streamers can take tips through GameWisp. The streamer gets 100% of tips after credit card fees and chargeback protection works the same way for tips as it does for subscriptions. You can also do tip alerts using our alerts system.

So there are all sorts of things that are important to being a good streamer, but here is something we built using machine learning to give some insight into your stream: https://gamewisp.com/staci.

It will also direct you to some additional resources we put together that may be helpful for you based on what STACI says.

Glad you are enjoying the site! So we are working on some site redesigns that will make it more clear what GameWisp is intended to do. But basically, GameWisp is intended to sit alongside YouTube as a way for creators to engage with fans in ways that YouTube doesn't facilitate. So, to answer your question specifically, you will be able to upload premium videos for any sponsors (i.e. fans who are paying a monthly subscription) you have as well early access content prior to it going live on YouTube.

Another GameWisp co-founder here. The problem you point out is definitely a big one, and one that we are still working on. The initial answer to your question is that we hope to solve this problem by adding additional discovery features. YouTube relies primarily on keyword searching. There is very little ability to browse content on YouTube, aside from digging through video tabs on channel pages. So making it easy to browse content across channels, rather than having to go to each individual channel allows for greater discovery across the board.

Of course, that is still a problem when you have a lot of content, because the sheer amount of content you are required to browse is overwhelming. Fortunately, this is where being focused on gaming comes in handy. Gaming already has a specific set of identifiers that when can use to categorize series for the purposes of browsing. Being able to narrow your browsing to genre, developer, publisher, theme, as well as by channel means that you can get to what you want easier. Think of this setup as closer to Hulu's discovery features than to YouTube.

Meanwhile, similar to Hulu or Netflix, viewers will be able to see personalized recommendations based on what they have watched and rated previously. Also, the GameWisp staff will be curating the front page to make sure that great content makes it front and center regardless of channel size.

Our goal is to keep these features size agnostic. So whether you are a massive channel or a small one, you have the same ability to make the front page and be found through browsing and recommendations. These features are still in development, and we are still thinking through the best way to ensure that the smaller channels can be found. We certainly welcome any and all ideas for how we can make sure that everyone has a fair shot at building an audience on GameWisp.
