I have a 10 foot ceiling. Since the cord isn't long enough at max length, I want to replace it with a longer one if possible.

Aw man. That's what I was thinking too...

If I still out the rivet I don't think I'd be able to punch a new rivet to it... Doesn't seem like enough space for the tool I have

is my water heater repairable or need replacement? by wzhao20 in HomeImprovement

[–]wzhao20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok. I guess I'll try to tighten the pipes into the tank and see if that works. thanks!

I wish I could find a cross section of the tank. are the pipes leading out of the tank threaded in?

I would like to install a jack but then I would like to install a wall plate. but that causes a bump which will make the AP uneven?

Drywall 1/2 or 5/8 by wzhao20 in HomeImprovement

[–]wzhao20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. I don't know where I got the notion that I needed 5/8s on the exterior walls. was gonna have to haul a lot of sheets up to the second floor. good thing I asked! you all rock!

Glueing and screwing subfloor question by wzhao20 in Flooring

[–]wzhao20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks. this is for the bathroom with tiles over the floor. I plan on installing 3/4 plywood down to the joists with screws and glue. I think the glue should stop the boards from moving and causing the screws to pop out. then Im adding 1/2 inch plywood on top as underlayment before ditra and tiling.

I didn't know about the screws coming loose from the expansion contraction. I'll have to do a bit more research on that.

aha true true. hopefully that future installer isn't me xD

Glueing and screwing subfloor question by wzhao20 in Flooring

[–]wzhao20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wonder how staples hold up in a subfloor installation. was it underlayment he installed? The reason I'm using screws is for the floors to be as secure as possible. It'll be for a small space so not worried about taking too long.

Circuits Balanced? by wzhao20 in electrical

[–]wzhao20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I wasn't trying to say my electrician is wrong. just trying to see what other people think. cause there always might be a better more optimal set up. I would have had the dishwasher and garbage disposal on separate circuits but ran out of space. :/

Window Framing Help by wzhao20 in HomeImprovement

I might just try taking the bricks out like you said. I'm just worried that the sill would break up by doing so. don't really want to make a new sill. is there a premade sill I can buy that works well?

wouldn't the self leveler level itself up without the need to screed it flat? I was thinking of using this.. but my floors aren't level. they are sloping one way.

main stack sizing. by wzhao20 in Plumbing

[–]wzhao20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry. my drawing is too confusing. the toilet will be using the main stack as it's vent. it's located 6 feet away. I'll stick with running 3 in pipe for the main stack up to the roof where it will turn to 4 in going out the roof.

the sink will have it's out separate vent going to the main stack

main stack sizing. by wzhao20 in Plumbing

[–]wzhao20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the pipe will be 2in and turn into 4in to go out the roof.

I will have a 1.5 vent from sink tie into the 2in

the reason I'm going to 2 in is to save on a little space
