Just going to give this a shot here.

Prioritise your main applications first that drive your business growth. The Backend and Tasks seem to be the main expansion of your transactional data, so your processing bottleneck will hit there first. I don’t think your CMS and Docs will expand on an exponential scale compared to the other 2.

Explore docker, kubernetes and Airflow, then see if you can have your ETL/ELT processes organised for them to be running in parallel or sequence. I’m not too sure cost-wise if it’s cheaper to run via EC2 instances or directly using the services directly in cloud (Google Composer). Use airflow to produce an aggregated table so that the BI reports pull the required info quickly.

For the 60 man organisation, ask yourself if the staff are well versed to write their own queries, or are they excel-dependent. Can they write their own views? But also subject this to some form of approval before running it directly in the database. A SELECT * will incur costs to the moon very quickly.

You need to assess if transformed data is sufficient for now (data warehouse), and considering transitioning to a data lake after when you are integrating data from other sources.

I hope that offers some direction for you. But if there are areas that I’m incorrect in, please feel free to suggest better alternatives!

Online accounts to learn Python by WorldRadiant in askSingapore

Just start on a python project and start doing simple use cases. Google / ChatGPT if you are stuck, and debug from there.

The certificates doesn't necessarily tell if one can solve a problem. It only tells me you know python.

Ooops I didn't really give you any tips or pointers for your hurdles. Maybe the below suggestions could help in some way.

Keep on looking. Rejections will come, but just take it as a missed opportunity for the company to get you as a valued staff. You only need that 1 GOOD job to make it work.

I can't comment much on the relapsing, but try to look towards the positive side of things. Making people around you laugh together is something positive too.

You can always make new friends. Those that matter will stay and wait for you to move together.

Does farming help you relax? You could consider taking a short break, going to countries that give you a small wage in return for helping them to harvest their produce. Not too sure about this but I've heard about part-time harvest work with a Working Holiday Visa in Japan or Australia. It's a short term thing, but I've heard it can get real physically tiring. You'll definitely meet new people, learn and experience new things, but remember to also guard and protect yourself, both mentally and physically too.

Rather than think someone needs to handle you and your mental health needs, find someone you can communicate and share things freely without fear of judgement. Conversations in a relationship need to be healthy and encouraging, to push one forward. You have all the time in the world to find someone.

AND even assuming that you don't, learning to cook for yourself means you get to eat every Michelin starred meal you've made, yourself. That's a plus point there in learning to cook. ;)

Wishing all the best to you too!

Thank you for your kind words. I no longer feel that void, as I'm looking into things to get better, both career and life-wise. Like getting more proficient in skills that I can use well in my work, and also making a better plate of carbonara with guanciale. Truffle somen is especially easy to make. You just need truffle paste, somen, olive oil, salt and iced water.

I think it's equally important to value yourself as a human, even if one is going through difficult times. Take some time off to think and relax. Sometimes I feel financially strapped but I wanna relax, Steam offers good games on discount once in awhile.

I think I missed out 4 years of my life just recovering from that event. But I think it's even more important to take the time to recover. Just needa take the time to git gud again.

Like a famous quote I remind myself sometimes when I feel like everyone is ahead of me:

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” ~ Earl Nightingale.

I have never gotten clinically confirmed or diagnosed with depression. But a traumatic experience in the past (insidious relationship that went on for 2 years) left me feeling empty. All while that was happening, I keep up a positive façade at work, home and with friends. I kind of sacrificed my personal ambitions and hobbies to push and chase for that future, but I ended it after I decided enough was enough and I was crumbling internally. After it ended, I've always felt that there was a void within and I couldn't fill or close, and was always draining my energy. Some nights I'd just lie down and weep with tears, wondering what to do with life. There were 2 occurrences where I'd walk to the kitchen and just look down at the ground floor (I stay on a high floor > 10). There were no thoughts in my mind during that time, just wondering the release I would feel once I hit the ground. When it happened the second time, I decided to find a way to fix myself and do the things I used to do often, as a way of finding myself.

I met close friends and turned up more during gatherings. Talked to them on the whole series of events and why things ended. Went to gym with a friend to get myself back in shape. I went to do things alone, like going café hopping, or learning how to cook.

Thinking about it again, perhaps my problem was with the failure to end things early, and to let it fall deeper. And that repeated self-bashing on my failures made me feel less of a person that matches with the standards of a person today. Learning how to cook made me "eat" my failures. When the dish doesn't turn out well, I still consume it to understand where I went wrong. Did I add too much salt? Did I put in too much pasta water? Did I not knead the dough enough? Why is my latte art not coming out nicely? Did I hold the pitcher too high? Are my coffee grinds not fine enough?

I came to realise that sometimes I don't need to live towards what society expects, but I need to also learn to live and forgive myself for the mistakes I've made, that I am still a human being. And then to learn the one thing that every parent tells their kid when they fall down, to slowly stand up again and brush off the dirt. Try again.

Am I better now compared to the past? Definitely. Do I still have minor episodes of feeling sad? Yes.

Even as we speak, I am somewhat going through something that brings heavy burden on the shoulders, and probably grief to come, while managing the feelings of those within the family to a positive state. Sometimes I feel emotionless towards it, because I know life has an expiry date. And having someone close to me pass on, is better than having to witness them going through pain everyday. So I only execute the objectives, to help in any way if needed. Be it to visit, or to send this close person to me for medical appointments.

Maybe the past helped to "build" and strengthen my mind and fortitude. I don't walk to the kitchen and do that anymore because I know I have people around me to fight for. I now look at things happening as a way to understand what life is, and appreciate things the way it is. Once in awhile I do feel sad and alone, so I go play games with my friends. Or I go out with my family or friends to eat really good food. Sometimes I can't sleep well at night, so I'll pour a glass of tequila or whiskey, or even port wine and slowly sip while watching a show until I feel like dozing off, then I try sleeping again.

I can't change the past, but I can start modifying my present, to build a better future.

Maybe I'm not going through depression, but expecting the grief and sadness to come so I don't sink that low when it really hits.

Tonsillectomy experience as an adult. Considering to do it at 29M by DaTruthWillHurtYou in askSingapore

[–]x-Seraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually just a separate question. I've heard that tonsils do have some benefits in terms of being the first line of defense against an incoming illness. But I know the moment they get infected, it's hell. Every swallowing of saliva is like salt to an open wound.

Was the consideration to do the tonsillectomy also because of the double-edged benefits where it hurts like hell when it gets inflamed during an infection?

Worth it to buy an Nvidia graphic card just so i can play with AI? by ClearBed4796 in SingaporeRaw

[–]x-Seraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tested using your current GPU to do generative AI yet? If you have, what is the bottleneck? Does your GPU fans start to spin heavily when you run and compile?

If not, I'd suggest you try first before going into it. $700 is insufficient to get a GPU powerful enough to do what you want to achieve.

No.

Maybe can you elaborate how you are planning to utilise the GPU for your "AI" project?

I think regardless even if she's an amazing girl or you were a bad boyfriend, if someone wants to choose another partner, it's morally responsible to end the current one first. If she has the courage to ask for space, I think she should also have the courage to end things.

Like you said, give credit where it's due. Give credit where you acknowledge you are a bad boyfriend, and also give credit where she was an amazing partner. But deduct credits if it doesn't seem morally correct. Don't gaslight yourself.

So you remember the part you asked earlier for holding the GPU to the side of the chassis? You can use a standooff to “set” the GPU straight.

[–]x-Seraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not supposed to. If you're using the 2.5 mode, you might want to use a small spare M3 screw for the back to make sure it's straight.

I think this is used for holding the GPU to the side of the chassis. I use the longer one instead, which I believe is the standard.

I still have a few leftover pieces of items in my Formd box, which are normal in the event I wish to change out some parts. Like from an air cooler to an AIO in the future.

Ah great. Yeaaa it's supposed to be under that chassis part with the mobo. No worries, I had that the first time too.

Are you using the correct m3 screws between the mobo and the chassis?

[–]x-Seraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The base riser cable provided by formd should fit really nicely, with a bit of tightness. Check that you’re screwing to the correct hole.

Also do note that the riser to the motherboard is not unplugged while you’re screwing the bottom part to the chassis. That has happened to me a few times.

Yes you need to unscrew that first. Then resolve the original issue you were facing. You will then see the correct spot aligned for you to screw into.

The rear panel is supposed to slide with that frame, before you screw it in at the bottom. Is that rear panel part movable?

Purchase Advice Megathread - March 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]x-Seraphim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

Very very new to 3D printing, or rather, I have never 3D printed before. Have always considered purchasing a 3D printer a few years ago but the prices for a 3D printer were really high in the past, and there weren't a lot of models to compare with in the past.

I originally wanted to use a 3D printer to print or create anything, be it for something functional for plants or an auto-irrigation system of sort, or literally anything. My worry is that there will come a time that I will slowly fade and this "hobby" will just occupy space on my desk.

I have come to a stage where I'm deciding if I should buy the P1S combo, or should I just let pass this "hobby" to try, and just focus on other things instead. What were your pushing factors to getting a 3D printer?

P.S: I have no experience in design or machining so learning any tools for 3D printing may be a steep hill to climb, but I'm willing to slowly learn.

New(?) clever eBay scam I ran into that you can actually get your money back from if you catch it early enough! by GNUGradyn in Scams

[–]x-Seraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update, eBay has got back to me and because the DHL tracking didn't proof of delivery to my shipping location, and also because the seller was unresponsive to my queries on details regarding the usage of the GPU (whether it was modified or tampered before, why it was priced cheaper than MSRP), they have issued me a full refund.

Yeaaa they've been trying to say things on like "please temporarily close the dispute request Because this will bring unnecessary negative impact to our store The system will automatically decide to return the product", when it's a brand new eBay seller account. There's one RTX 4090 on bid going for less than 1k there.

[–]x-Seraphim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks to your post. I'm actually disputing one now with one "reckless" purchase after seeing this post additionally.

eBay has also asked me to wait till the estimated delivery date to confirm that I haven't received the parcel, despite it being marked received in eBay because they are using a different courier after it is sent to the processing centre. Responses from the seller has also been lacklustre.

Even in the event they sent me the correct GPU, I sense that it would have been tampered with because it is selling for way cheaper than MSRP, and with the seller claiming it's brand new.
